According to Deadline, Lauren Ash has joined the cast of ABC’s upcoming workplace comedy series Not Dead Yet as a series regular. Jane the Virgin’s Gina Rodriguez will co-star with her in the new series. An affluent newspaper owner’s daughter, Ash will play Lexi in the series. Lexi, who grew up in an affluent household, is unable to connect with the people around her because of her upbringing.
As the newly appointed editor of a newspaper, we’ll watch her struggle to win over her father’s favour, something she wants more than anything. An adaptation of Alexandra Potter’s novel, Confessions of a Forty-Something F**k Up, will be made into a television series, Not Dead Yet. Nell Serrano, a former journalist who tries to relaunch her career after a breakup, will be played by Rodriguez in the series. Rodriguez’s more down-to-earth persona may provide as a fascinating counterpoint to Ash’s Lexi in the series, or vice versa, with such an intriguing past.
This season, the Life & Style section editor will be Hannah Simone (New Girl), along with Rodriguez and Ash. Ash formerly portrayed Dina Fox on the critically acclaimed NBC comedy series Superstore. Chicago Party Aunt and She-Ra: Princess of Power are two more projects she has voiced. Ash’s performance in Not Dead Yet has the potential to bring a lot of laughter to the audience when the programme premieres in the near future. Besides Casey Johnson and David Windsor, the show’s writers include Joshua Banday, Angela Gibbs, and Rick Glassman, all of whom join the cast as regulars in the forthcoming workplace comedy series.
Due to a refocus on the show’s workplace elements, Jessica St. Clair and Mary Elizabeth Ellis, who appeared in the initial pilot, will not return for the full-fledged series. Johnson and Windsor are also co-executive producers on the project, which includes Rodriguez as a star. This new film will also have executive producing contributions from McG, Mary Viola and Corey Marsh of Wonderland Sound and Vision. Not Dead Yet’s release date has not yet been announced.
