Actor Ezra Miller’s future ventures are in doubt as his increasingly aggressive, unpredictable and criminal conduct continues. Daliland, the next picture from filmmaker Mary Harron (American Psycho), which sees Miller as a teenage Salvador Dali, has received far less attention than the upcoming blockbuster The Flash. Since Miller’s involvement in the artist’s biography has raised questions about whether the film would be released, the film has been a focus of interest. This year’s Toronto International Feature Festival will conclude with Daliland, which will be screened as the festival’s closing night film (TIFF).
However, it is quite improbable that Miller will be there for the film’s premiere. The forthcoming drama will have its global debut at the 47th Toronto International Film Festival, as reported by Deadline, but the announcement made care to stress Kingsley’s star power while downplaying Miller’s part. Indeed, Miller’s name was omitted from the cast credits, which raises the question of whether the actor will appear in the new picture, or whether the company decided to completely redo their portion.
Deadline says that Miller’s character has not been eliminated from Daliland, despite the fact that one may presume otherwise. The actor’s participation in the festival’s last premiere appears to be an attempt by TIFF to keep his involvement in the festival under wraps. This is a significantly smaller picture than The Flash, so Daliland will feel the full brunt of Miller’s litany of criminal actions much more strongly.
For TIFF, this will inevitably overshadow its star-studded premiere in one way or another; it would prefer that public and press attention be shifted toward the film’s star power rather than its well-publicized star. TIFF doesn’t want to be accused of drawing attention to the actor’s involvement, which is understandable. James, Dali’s helper, is a young man eager to make his mark in the art world who witnesses the artist’s bizarre and enchanting marriage with Gala in the 1970s, as described in the press release for Daliland.
To assist Dali to get ready for his major exhibition opening, we’ll witness some memories from his childhood, which will presumably match the mentor’s trip with his new pupil. It’s a significant supporting part at best for Miller, who plays the title character in the film A 2021 interview with Deadline claims that Miller was only on the show for three days between his obligations to Fantastic Beast: The Secrets of Dumbledore and the aforementioned Flash.
Variety reports that Vermont State Police on Monday charged Miller with burglary.
This is only the latest in a string of run-ins with the authorities for the couple. They were twice jailed in Hawaii for violence, and they’ve also been accused of grooming earlier this summer, according to Vulture. However, Warner Bros. has made it apparent that they have no intentions to collaborate with Miller following The Flash, despite the fact that the film’s theatrical release is proceeding as planned.
Accordingly, it remains to be seen whether the controversial actor’s career will suffer as a result of their involvement in this biography, especially as it nears the recently scheduled TIFF debut. In the meanwhile, we’ll just have to wait and see what TIFF has in store for us. The premiere of Daliland will be on September 17.
