The latest film from Mud filmmaker Jeff Nichols features an impressive roster of talent. His upcoming film, The Bikeriders, will include Jodie Comer, Austin Butler, and Tom Hardy, as reported by Deadline(opens in new tab). Moviegoers may expect to see a fresh take on the narrative that was popularised in Danny Lyon’s book of the same name. The Bikeriders is a picture and narrative anthology first released in 1968, featuring members of the Chicago Outlaws Motorcycle Club. Personal and gritty tales from the group’s members are shared by Lyon, who was a member of the club himself.
Nicols will use this as inspiration for his adaption, which will be set in the 1960s in a made-up Midwestern town. The movie adaptation of The Bikeriders will, like the book, centre on a group of motorcyclists. It spans a decade, during which time the club goes from being a gathering place for the locals to something far worse. After his breakthrough performance in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis, Butler is all the rage right now.
At the moment, he can be found on the set of Dune 2 with Zendaya and Timothée Chalamet. Live performances of Prima Facie at the National Theatre, starring Comer, have been receiving rave reviews and have been the company’s largest cinematic debut since the outbreak. She plans to perform the part again in 2023 on Broadway. Recently, Hardy appeared in the last season of Peaky Blinders, and in 2021, he will lead Venom 2. Havoc, directed by Gareth Evans and shown on Netflix, is about a botched drug trade and will be his next film role.
