The “Baby Shark” craze will continue whether you like it or not. The Pinkfong Company’s worldwide hit preschool song is being adapted into a film with the working title Baby Shark’s Big Movie because of its infectious melody and evident appeal to young children. According to Paramount+, the first original animated picture based on Baby Shark, which swam its way into being one of the most viewed children’s music videos, will debut in the United States during the 2023 Christmas season. The forthcoming animated picture, co-produced by Nickelodeon Animation and The Pinkfong Company, will tell the story of Baby Shark and his parents as they move to the greater metropolis of sharks known as Chomp City.
When Baby Shark’s family relocates to the big city, he must leave behind everything and everyone he knows and loves, including his best buddy William. Baby Shark must defeat the evil pop starfish Straiana, who plans to use Baby Shark’s musical talent to take over the ocean’s music scene, in order to restore harmony. Alan Foreman, who directed the 2019 comedy animated series The Casagrande’s and the 2014 comedy animated series Welcome to the Wayne, and won an Emmy in the Daytime Creative Arts category, will helm the upcoming film.
Pinkfong, a South Korean music label, planned to release “Baby Shark” as a campfire tune. Nonetheless, “Baby Shark” took the globe by storm when the firm posted it on YouTube in November 2015, and it has since found its way into everyone’s computer screens. It’s the first video on YouTube to accrue 10 billion views. This music video for the song also holds the record for the most views ever on YouTube, and the single has been certified Diamond and 11x Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America for selling 11 million copies in the United States alone. The Baby Shark’s Big Show series, based on the viral preschool anthem, will premiere globally on Nickelodeon networks in 2021.
The show has been renewed for a 2nd season and has already won a Daytime Emmy. Patrick Warburton (Mad TV), Debra Wilson (We Bare Bears), Eric Edelstein (We Bare Bears), and Natasha Rothwell (Sonic the Hedgehog 2) all lend their voices to Baby Shark’s Big Show (Bee Movie). Gary DiRaffaele, Tommy Sica, and Whitney Ralls are all executive producers on the animated series.
