The first trailer for Martin McDonagh’s (Oscar winner) The Banshees of Inisherin, which will mark his return to theatres for the first time since 2017. The new teaser showcases the performances of Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson as two best friends who react differently to the unexpected termination of their friendship. In the first teaser for the new drama, we see Colin Farrell struggling to deal with the sudden loss of his relationship with Brendan Gleeson, who has apparently decided he no longer desires to speak to him for no solid reason.
The trailer gives the impression that the film has a sombre tone, however, the characters’ dialogue has a lighthearted undercurrent throughout. Will they be able to determine what exactly caused their friendship to become strained? The film is set on the fictional island of Inisherin off the coast of Ireland during the Irish Civil War in 1923. Pádraic (Farrell) and Colm (Gleeson) had been best friends for a long time, but when the country is thrust into the heart of political instability and upheaval, Com finds himself wishing to push Pádraic out of his life.
However, the two exes don’t view the breakup in the same light. Pádraic tries to mend fences with Colm, but Colm is determined to move on without him. McDonagh’s first feature picture since 2013’s Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri is titled The Banshees of Inisherin, which he also wrote and directed. His other works as a writer-director include the critically praised features In Bruges and Seven Psychopaths, as well as the Oscar-winning short film Six Shooter (2004).
In addition to directing, McDonagh will also play an integral role in the production of the picture as a producer with Peter Czernin and Graham Broadbent. To complement Farrell and Gleeson, the ensemble also features Kerry Condon, Barry Keoghan, Pat Shortt, Gary Lydon, and Sheila Flitton. After making its debut at the Venice Film Festival on September 4, 2022, The Banshees of Inisherin will have a limited theatrical release beginning on October 21, 2022.
