Netflix Signs Exclusive First Look Deal With Dark Horse Entertainment

Dark Horse Entertainment, publisher of comic books, and streaming media behemoth Netflix have extended their multi-year creative relationship, with Dark Horse providing Netflix with the first look at film and television adaptations of Dark Horse properties. The 3rd season of The Umbrella Academy was one of their most recent joint projects together. Dark Horse has a number of upcoming entertainment ventures, including Bang! and Mind MGMT.
The film Bang! is based on the popular graphic novel by Matt Kindt and Wilfredo Torres of the same name.

The “world’s most renowned spy” is recruited to find the source of a book series that is being blamed for brainwashing the people. Starring Idris Elba, the picture is written and directed by David Leitch and Zak Olkewicz (who also co-wrote Bullet Train with Leitch) and will be produced by Warner Bros. The producers are Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg from Dark Horse, Leitch and Kelly McCormick from 87 North, and Elba. Mind MGMT, the second stated project, is another comic book series by Kindt.

A young lady who discovers the highly classified Mind Management software will be the protagonist of the TV show adaption. In her search for the man who was both MIND MGMT’s greatest triumph and its most devastating failure, she encounters armed psychics, hypnotic advertising, talking dolphins, and apparently eternal pursuers. However, can she believe what she sees in a world where people may alter reality itself? Curtis Gwinn, Richardson, and Keith Goldberg of Dark Horse will be the series’ executive producers for Mind MGMT. The 3rd season of The Umbrella Academy is just the latest example of how fruitful Netflix’s and Dark Horse’s collaboration has been.

In its first four weeks, the series racked up 282 million hours of watching on Netflix, placing it in the Global Top 10 in TV in 91 countries. In addition to Polar and Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles, the animated feature Chickenhare and the Hamster of Darkness is also available on Netflix via Dark Horse Entertainment. Dark Horse is also currently developing Revenge Inc. and Lady Killer, both of which were previously revealed.
