According to FX CEO John Landgraf, who will be attending this year’s Television Critics Association summer press tour, writer Noah Hawley has already delivered his scripts for the next unnamed Alien series. A tweet from Alex Zalben claims that the show’s production will begin in the new year as well. Untitled Alien was earlier speculated to be set on Earth and to be a future time period, despite the announcement’s lack of detailed narrative specifics. Set in a previously unexplored time period, this series might breathe fresh life into the brand and provide plenty of horrors in the process.
Investor Day in 2020 was where the unnamed Alien series was first unveiled with the show slated to premiere on Hulu at some point in the future. Prior to Fargo and Legion, Hawley wrote and directed many episodes that received high accolades from reviewers. As development on the Alien series ramps up in the coming year, further announcements about casting and shooting dates are inevitable.
The Alien trilogy, which began with Ridley Scott’s 1979 picture Alien and starred Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley, is still among the most popular science fiction horror concepts. Following the release of James Cameron and David Fincher’s Alien 3 and finishing with Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s Alien: Resurrection, the franchise would continue. Following a brief hiatus, Scott returned to the series with the prequels Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, both of which were met with a mixed reception from fans. Since Scott is preparing a sequel with Fede lvarez scheduled to direct, the prequels remain in a condition of uncertainty.
Fans of the series can still get a taste of intergalactic dread when the television series launches on Hulu in the not-too-distant future. The unnamed Alien series has yet to be given a release date or cast, as it is still in the early stages of development.
