For this year’s Disney+ Day, Disney and Pixar have created a brand-new animated series called Cars on the Road that takes viewers back to Radiator Springs and beyond. Starting on September 8th, Disney+ subscribers will be able to view nine full episodes of Cars from Disney and Pixar, as well as a full trailer that gives a taste of what’s to come! To celebrate Mater’s sister’s big day, Lightning McQueen and Mater go back to their old pranks in Cars on the Road. McQueen accepts Mater’s invitation to join him on a cross-country road trip, and so the epic journey begins.
The teaser doesn’t reveal anything about Mater’s sister or which celebrities will join the Cars universe’s A-listers from the last trilogy, such as Paul Newman and Michael Keaton. The quick and furious trailer, on the other hand, shows that this new series will be jam-packed with action and excitement. Steve Purcell, one of the show’s directors, gave viewers an idea of what to anticipate by saying: “Lightning McQueen and Mater take a joyride around the United States in the series. Every day is a fresh mini-adventure with unexpected twists and turns, just like a genuine road trip.”
From the sound of things, our next road trip will be one for the books and one that would make Chevy Chase proud. When Mater and McQueen leave their boring Route 66 hamlet, they meet plenty of new people (bumpers? ), and while not all of them are nice, they surely make for an exciting journey. A spooky house of ghost trucks and a circus of acrobatic automobiles will be added to Cars on the Road’s ever-expanding automobile realm. Mater and McQueen are going to meet a Mad Max Thunderdome of flaming rubber fiends, Cretaceous Gardens, and more in this one.
Disney is putting out all the stops on this one. Mater says it best: “All the bumps along the road… that’s what makes life worth living!” Cars on the Road are cruising along at top speed. Marc Sondheimer, well known for his work on Miss Fritter’s Racing Skool, comes back to create this instalment of Cars. Purcell, Bobby Podesta, and Brian Fee, who previously collaborated on Cars, The Incredibles, and Incredibles 2, are the three directors of the nine episodes. For each episode of Disney’s Flora and Ulysses, Jake Monaco was responsible for the whole soundtrack. September 8th will be the second annual D23 Expo: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in Anaheim, which will culminate in a major celebration of Disney+. The event is expected to be huge and will reveal exclusive content to Disney fans, with celebrity guests and hosts, and all-new info-reveals from Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar and more.
