September 8, 2022, is planned to be the day for Disney+ Day, a celebration of the streaming service’s new content from its most popular properties. On the same day as the release of new programming, the streaming service will also launch a brand-new series based on the iconic Pixar Cars film franchise. An all-new Cars on the Road poster, featuring both old and new faces, has been unveiled by Disney. In the new image, Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson), Mater (Larry the Cable Guy), and a host of other colourful and unusual characters are seen in the foreground of the poster. Other examples include Mac trucks, a forklift-turned clown vehicle, a T-Rex-like mechanic beast standing in front of a volcano, and more.
McQueen and Mater will meet the most diverse cast of individuals and vehicles yet in the series, as suggested by this poster, and they’ll probably also embark on the most bizarre voyage yet. Lightning McQueen and Mater will go on a cross-country voyage to meet up with Mater’s sister in the next series, which was first revealed in December 2020. They will encounter a wide variety of individuals and situations as they go, some of which are hinted at in the poster. Director Steve Purcell describes the series as “a trip around the nation with Lightning McQueen and Mater.”
This road trip was full of surprises & fresh experiences every day, just like any good road trip should be. In total, there will be 9 episodes in the series. With Pete Docter’s help, Marc Sondheimer has made Cars on the Road. Each & every episode is directed by a different person, including Purcell, Bobby Podesta, and Brian Fee (Episodes 3, 4, 7). Jake Monaco will compose the music for the new series.
Additional voice actors are expected to join Wilson and Larry the Cable Guy in the future, although they have not yet been disclosed. The show will be animated by Pixar Animation Studios. The release date for Disney+’s Cars on the Road is slated for September 8.
