As We Know It, an impending zombie apocalypse thriller is now filming in Los Angeles, and Variety reports that actresses Pam Grier, Chris Parnell, and Oliver Cooper will star. Josh Monkarsh, who previously directed the short film The Evolution of Ethan Baskin, will direct the future production, which premiered at Cannes in 2012. Grier, Parnell, and Cooper join a cast that also features Mike Castle, who previously acted in Brews Brothers, alongside Taylor Blackwell (Designated Survivor) and Danny Mondello in his film debut after previously receiving attention via the social media platform TikTok.
The narrative and the roles of the performers have not yet been revealed. Set in the late ’90s, the film centres on James Bishop, a disillusioned writer who tries to finish his latest work before the imminent end of the world. With Christopher Francis and Brandon DePaolo, Monkarsh co-wrote the script for As We Know It. For fans of the zombie genre, As We Know It has an intriguing notion at the heart of its zombie apocalypse plot. Grier will also play an unspecified part in the planned Pet Sematary prequel, which has yet to be given a title. Lindsey Beer is the director of the film, which will air on Paramount+ later this year.
Cooper, best known for his role as serial murderer David Berkowitz in the television series Mindhunter, is also set to appear in Helen’s Dead, directed by K. Asher Levin, and Baby Blue, a horror comedy by Adam Mason. Rick and Morty’s Jerry Smith is voiced by Parnell, who is known for his roles in humorous films and television shows. When the indie zombie film premieres in the near future, viewers may look forward to seeing the trio of actors united on screen. Slayers’ Daniel Cummings and Josh Fruehling and Monkarsh’s Josh Fruehling will produce the film alongside Levin and Cummings. Due to the film’s current development state, there is no scheduled release date.
