Goodnight Mommy, the English-language adaptation of the 2014 Austrian film of the same name, has a release date from Amazon Studios. On September 16th, 2022, Amazon Prime Video will debut the forthcoming horror film. As a woman and her two boys travel into a rabbit hole of anxiety and distrust in the narrative of Goodnight Mommy, we follow their journey. It’s not just the bandages on her face that surprise the two young boys when they’re sent to live with their mother for the first time; their mother has also undergone surgical treatment.
Her conduct is becoming more and more irregular as they learn more and more about her. There are suspicions that their mother is an impostor among the two little boys. As a Best Foreign Language Picture nominee at this year’s Oscars, the original Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala-directed film were nominated for Best Foreign Language Film. Matt Sobel (Take Me To The River) will direct the Goodnight Mommy remake based on Kyle Warren’s script. Naomi Watts, the two-time Oscar nominee who starred in the 2002 English-language remake of The Ring, will play the face-wrapped mother, and Cameron and Nicholas Crovetti (Big Little Lies, Cameron also stars in The Boys) will play her two sons.
The film is an English-language remake of a foreign horror film. Jeremy Bobb (The Outsider), Crystal Lucas-Perry (Mimesis Nosferatu), and Peter Hermann (Younger) will appear in unidentified roles with Watts and the Crovetti brothers in the next film. He will also act as executive producer with the original film’s makers, Franz and Fiala, in addition to appearing in the new film With Amazon Studios, Animal Kingdom, and the Paris-based production firm Playtime, the latter of which has acquired the remake rights, Amazon funded and distributed the picture globally.
Aside from Nicolas Brigaud-Robert, the picture is also produced by David Kaplan, Joshua Astrachan, Valery Guibal and Nicolas Kaplan. On September 16, Amazon Studios’ reimagining of Goodnight Mommy will debut on Prime Video.
