When Los Espookys was renewed for a second season back in July of 2019, we finally got our first peek at Season 2. It was popularity among fans, but production was halted due to a pandemic, and the last episode was only released in February. “More spectacular, more mysterious and more Espookier” episodes are promised in the upcoming season’s first photographs from Entertainment Weekly. On September 16, HBO will premiere six new episodes of Season 2. Friends Renaldo (Bernardo Velasco), Andrés (Julio Torres), Tati (Ana Fabrega), and rsula (Cassandra Ciangherotti) join Los Espookys, a company dedicated to the macabre and surreal.
From false exorcisms to alien abductions and everything in between, they offer a variety of horror-themed services for their customers in order to trick people into believing the events are genuine. Having split their time between Los Angeles and Latin America, the buddies are able to deliver their own brand of bizarre horror to a market already saturated with the uncanny. The Espookys are back for more “supernatural” adventures in the trailer, which maintains the show’s charmingly bizarre tone. Renaldo, the leader of Los Espookys, is plagued by the soul of a beauty pageant queen who follows him wherever he goes this time around.
In addition to that, Los Espookys dream up crazy imaginations, wear strange (or in Andrés’s case, flashy) costumes and devise complicated plans to give people additional real-life haunts. Although he seems like a saucy cowboy in a fantasy, Andrés is the master of the weird in the teaser, using a little, plastic device to call a horse to him. The show’s creators, Torres, Fabrega, and Fred Armisen, shared some narrative clues from the forthcoming second season in an Entertainment Weekly preview. “He is tormented by some sort of presence, and he feels obligated to help this mysterious guest throughout the season and unravel some kind of a story,” Torres said of Renaldo. Andres is driven to find a legitimate career outside of Los Espookys, which leads him to become a staircase model, as shown in the teaser for the film.
A new president is elected after the Mira Esto studio incident, rsula survives her experience, and Renaldo’s Uncle Tico (Armisen) spends more time with Los Espookys after his valet company takes a nosedive. Fan favourites including Spike Einbinder, Greta Titelman, River L. Ramirez, Sam Taggart, Giannina Fruttero, Carmen Gloria Bresky, and Eudora Peterson will also be back in Los Espookys Season 2. Martine Gutierrez, Yalitza Aparicio, Isabella Rossellini, and Kim Petras make their debut appearances as guests in this season’s cast. On September 16, HBO and HBO Max will air the second season of Los Espookys.
