Because of this, Prime Video has chosen to end the Dawn of Eve and Twilight Adam series. The Wilds, a young adult drama, was cancelled by Prime Video just two months after its season 2 conclusion. A Deadline report stated that Prime Video is still committed to young adult content, and referred to their current and upcoming series in the genre, including the upcoming Shelter, based on the first novel of Mickey Bolitar’s trilogy written by bestselling author Harlan Coben, and The Summer I Turned Pretty, which is currently airing. Sarah Streicher was the brains behind the concept, while Jamie Tarses, who sadly passed away in 2021, worked on the design and production. Prime Video picked up the pilot as part of an early wave of young adult pilots.
A second season of The Wilds, Amazon’s first young adult series, is currently streaming on Prime Video. The story revolved around a group of young women who had survived an aircraft disaster and were now stranded on a remote island with no means of communication. Second, the island was introduced to a group of young men. The first season premiered in December 2020 and was renewed for a second season in the same month. The second season launched in May of 2022 to a considerably more subdued reception than the first one. This drama, according to Perri Nemiroff’s interview with Streicher in May, was initially presented as a four-season storyline.
It appears that this story will not come to a conclusion at Prime Video, though. It stars Rachel Griffiths, David Sullivan, Troy Winbush, Sophia Ali, Sarah Pidgeon and Jenna Clause as well as Mia Healey, Helena Howard, Reign Edwards and Shannon Berry in the major roles of the film. Zack Calderon, Aidan Laprete, Nicholas Coombe, Charles Alexander, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Reed Shannon, Tanner Ray Rook, and Alex Fitzalan are among the second batch of survivors to join the cast in season 2.
In addition to being the show’s creator, Streicher also acted as executive producer. The late Tarses, through Fanfare, and Dylan Clark, through his Dylan Clark Productions, were both executive producers on the project. Amazon Studios and ABC Signature, a division of Disney Television Studios, collaborated on the production of the show. The Wilds: Seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream on Amazon Prime.
