Resurrection, a psychological thriller starring Rebecca Hall and Tim Roth, was released by IFC Films today with an exclusive clip. The story revolves around a mother who raised her daughter on her own and managed to keep her life under control. However, as soon as a familiar face from her past appears, everything goes to hell. In this rare clip, we see how Margaret (Hall’s (Roth) )’s life goes into overdrive when David (Roth) is mentioned. So, who is this man, and what has he done to her in the past? The clip shows that Resurrection’s grungy cinematography is poised to take on horror movie emotions and images as Margaret is frightened by a lurking menace.’
The woman’s connection with her daughter appears to be one of the first things to suffer, as she is caught aback when her mother has an unexpected reaction to a basic request. Rebecca Hall’s troubled portrayal in the footage also makes us question what this man represents while also making us concerned for her safety. A veteran of horror and psychological suspense films like The Awakening and The Night House, the actor looks poised to produce yet another career-best performance in this new film as well. Director and screenwriter Andrew Semans’ directorial debut, Nancy, Please, was ten years ago, and his new film, Resurrection, is his follow-up.
In the wake of Nancy, Please, Semans’ new film will premiere at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival, making it an instant must-see. This Friday, July 29, Resurrection opens in cinemas. On August 5, the psychological thriller will be available on demand. Shudder will be the only place to see the film online starting in November.
