Director Michael Oblowitz, known for his high-octane action flicks, has cast Informant. In today’s Deadline, Dominic Purcell, Nick Stahl, Kate Bosworth, and Mel Gibson, all of whom have been in the director’s previous films and television series (Braveheart, Lethal Weapon), are all set to star in his upcoming thriller. The casting announcement coincides with the announcement that filming has begun and that production is well underway. Cancer-stricken police detective informant is the focus of the film. In order to care for his family even after his death, the cop makes a bargain with one of his most loyal informants, who are willing to kill for it.
To ensure that the detective’s loved ones obtain his bureau benefits, the agreement calls for a fatal setup rather than his quickly worsening ailment to kill him in the line of duty. While the plan is painful, his best buddy and partner will assist him to pull it off while keeping it a secret from the rest of his friends and family. Oblowitz, who is well-known for his work on over-the-top action movies like Steven Seagal’s starrer The Foreigner and Out for a Kill, has assembled an all-star cast for his upcoming project. Along with Michael Kaycheck and Brooke Nasser, he wrote the script. Gibson, a household figure in the realm of action films, has won a slew of accolades, including an Oscar, for his roles in blockbusters like Braveheart, Lethal Weapon, and Mad Max. The multi-genre artist most recently performed in the film Father Stu with Mark Wahlberg. While Blade: Trinity was Purcell’s breakout role, he truly took off in Prison Break, where he starred with Bryan Cranston. It was after this that Heat Wave was cast in the role of a DC Comics character on both The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow.
As a result of her role in the upcoming film and television adaptation of the best-selling novel Let the Right One In, Stahl has been cast in the main role. He’s working on a live-action adaptation of the 1980s manga and anime Knights of the Zodiac, based on Masami Kurumada’s work. Stahl has worked on Terminator 3 and Sin City in the past. In addition to her roles in Blue Crush and Bryan Singer’s Superman Returns, which featured her as Lois Lane, Bosworth is most known for her surfing exploits. With Netflix’s Along for the Ride and Lyle Mitchell Corbine Jr.’s Wild Indian, Bosworth has lately been on the big screen. Informant’s release date has not yet been announced.
