Book Club 2 – The Next Chapter will arrive in theatres on May 12, 2023, according to the film’s official website. It is indeed Mother’s Day when the movie is released, so if your mother like the wild antics of the book-loving group of ladies, this is an ideal activity for your festivities. The Book Club sequel, directed by Bill Holderman, will see the four closest friends take over Italy as they plan their wine-filled ideal holiday. Typical of the group, things will get out of hand and the women will learn shocking things about one another as they travel throughout the strange nation, presumably refuelling with bowls of pasta along the way.
With Diane Keaton and Jane Fonda in the lead roles, the original film introduces us to Diane, Vivian, Sharon, and Carol, four friends who have kept a pledge to each other for 40 years to meet monthly and read a book together. When the group decides to read Fifty Shades of Grey as their next book, things go a lot hotter than they expected. The women’s romantic and personal connections are pushed to the test as each lady begins to rethink her own definitions of happiness and sexuality. Book Club was Holderman’s directorial debut, and he’s back to helm the sequel as well as write and produce it with Erin Simms. Andy Garcia, Don Johnson and Craig T. Nelson will all reprise their roles in the sequel with Giancarlo Giannini, Hugh Quarshie, and Vincent Riotta rounding out the rest of the group.
The Focus Features picture will be executive produced by Brad Weston, Trish Hofmann, Enzo Sisti, and Andrew Duncan. A night at the movies with your closest friends or with your mom and her friends is made complete with a trip to the movies to see Book Club 2. With clever language and the best queens and kings in the industry, this sequel has all the ingredients to be even better than the first. This is a genuine “chef’s kiss.” On May 12, 2023, Book Club 2 will be released in cinemas.
