The first trailer for Sylvester Stallone’s new film Samaritan, in which he plays a retired superhero, has just been published via Prime Video. As a thirteen-year-old youngster, Euphoria’s Javon Walton portrays the eponymous Samaritan who is attempting to persuade him to return to battling crime. Granite City, a fictitious megalopolis featuring skyscrapers, vehicles, and crime, is shown in the trailer. While employed as a garbageman in Granite City, Joe Smith (Stallone) spends his spare time salvaging valuable items from the garbage and repurposing them. When Joe runs across Sam, his basic and straightforward way of life is upended (Walton). One day, when Sam is being bullied, Joe intervenes and appears to have superhuman power.
In the wake of his disastrous run-in with Joe, Sam is certain that the garbageman is none other than Samaritan, a superhero that the general public believes perished in a fire 25 years prior. Joe attempts to deny it at first. Joe’s miraculous escape from a hit-and-run is one of the things Sam witnesses in the film’s trailer. Even though the city has been inundated with crime, Sam takes on the mission of persuading Samaritan to put on his uniform once more. A peek of Pilou Asbaek’s character, a crime lord who plans to burn Granite City to the ground is also shown in the teaser.
Julius Avery directs from a screenplay by Bragi F. Schut in Samaritan, which is being made by Sylvester Stallone’s Balboa Productions. Rambo: Last Blood was the company’s first major release in 2019, and this is their second. Dascha Polanco and Moises Arias both appear in Samaritan. Coming to Prime Video this August 26th are the new Samaritan films.
Synopsis
It is Sam Cleary’s (Javon “Wanna” Walton) belief that his reclusive neighbour, Mr Smith (Sylvester Stallone), is truly a legend lurking in plain view. 25 years ago, Granite City’s superpowered vigilante Samaritan was declared dead following a raging warehouse fight with his archrival Nemesis. Samaritan was the main antagonist of Nemesis. Most people in the city assume Samaritan was killed in the blaze, but some, like Sam, are optimistic that he has survived. To prevent the city from going to hell, Sam sets out to find his neighbour and entice him out of hiding so that they may work together to stop the crime wave.
