“Msica,” Amazon Studios’ next romantic comedy film slated to premiere on Prime Video in over 240 countries, includes a stellar roster of performers, according to an exclusive from Deadline.com. Produced by Wonderland Sound and Vision has concluded production. One of the stars of Curb Your Enthusiasm, J.B Smoove, has been cast in the movie. Spider-Man: Far From Home and Spider-Man: No Way Home previously featured Smoove as Mr Dell. Fairfax, by Prime Studios, and Blockbuster, by Netflix will also include the actor’s voice. Both Francesca Reale, who played Heather Holloway in Stranger Things, and Smoove are slated to feature in Msica, though their roles have not been announced. The new cast members join Camila Mendes in the cast (Riverdale).
Mendes previously lent her talents to the adult animated series Fairfax, which aired on Prime Video. Rudy Mancuso, who will also feature in the film, will direct and co-write it. As a well-known YouTube comedian, Mancuso is well-known for his work on Awkward Puppets and other hit videos on the now-defunct Vine app. He will also feature in The Flash in an unspecified role next year. He’ll also be joined by his real-life mother, newcomer Maria Mancuso, who will play his character’s mother in the film.
In a YouTube Red original special, The Keys of Christmas, mother and son are featured together. The story revolves around a young man (Mancuso) residing in Newark, New Jersey, who is trying to find a way to balance his life between love, family, and Brazilian culture, all the while listening to Brazilian music nonstop in the background of his thoughts. Msica’s narrative elements are presently unclear, but with a brilliant cast of performers at the helm, it might be an interesting and funny picture for people to look out for when it comes on Prime Video in the near future.
Co-writer Dan Lagana and composer Mancuso wrote the narrative and composed the original soundtrack. Wonderland Sound and Vision, under the leadership of Monib Abhat, is home to McG, Mary Viola, and the rest of the Wonderland team. John and Sam Shahidi of Shots Studios will serve as executive producers, with Lagana and Steven Bello serving as co-executive producers.
The release date for Msica has not yet been determined.
