Full Frontal with Samantha Bee has been cancelled by Warner Bros. Discovery after seven seasons. “Bee” won’t be returning to the network this autumn, confirms Bee’s reps. Conan with Conan O’Brien on TBS and Comedy Central’s reduction to just one late-night programme are among the popular late-night shows that have been cancelled. CBS is still seeking for a new host to replace James Corden when he leaves The Late Late Program, and Lilly Singh is leaving her early morning show because of other disputes in the late-night show business. So far, so bad for a number of networks’ aspirations for late-night programming.
Early in 2016, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee made its debut on MTV. The show, like Bee’s prior work, would focus on current political issues with her own unique brand of humour. She’d apply what she’d learned from her time on The Daily Show With Jon Stewart to diversify the writing staff. The show would be the first time a late-night satire comedy show was hosted by a woman. As a result of the show’s first success, producers decided to order a second season. TBS sitcom The Detour is another show that Bee has worked on as an executive producer. While she was working on her documentary series for TBS, she founded a production business called Swimsuit Competition. Since then, she’s played Jillian in The Kids in the Hall, a part she loves.
TBS confirmed that Full Frontal with Samantha Bee had been cancelled, saying:
We’ve had to make some difficult, business-oriented decisions as we continue to define our new programming approach. Samantha Bee and the rest of the Full Frontal with Samantha Bee team have been nominated for an Emmy for their trailblazing work, and we are pleased to have been their home. We look forward to working with this cast & crew again in the future, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to do so. Despite the cancellation of the programme, it appears that Bee is continuing to work on other projects. One of Time’s 2017 top 100 most important persons in the world will be fascinating to watch what they accomplish next! Archived episodes of Full Frontal will continue to be available on the show’s YouTube channel indefinitely.
