According to reports, the prequel series for The Witcher is trying to address its production issues by cutting back on episodes and increasing the amount of Jaskier. Despite Netflix’s overwhelming success with The Witcher, it appears that a spin-off series based on the game is in serious peril. Prequel series The Witcher: Blood Origin takes set over a thousand years before the events of the main series, titled The Witcher: Blood Origin. Seven elves “join in a blood quest against an overwhelming force” in this epic fantasy tale.
It was announced in July 2020 and began production in August 2021, but Netflix has been quiet about the show given its lacklustre reaction from fans. According to new information, the programme has undergone a significant makeover in an effort to get back on track.
Redanianintelligence.com(opens in new tab) has reported that The Witcher: Blood Origin, which was originally planned to contain six episodes, will now only have four episodes.
In order to “bring Blood Origin closer to the main series and polish and eliminate some of the content that was judged poor,” the site’s source claims that reshoots and editing were carried out. As a result, Jaskier has been rumoured to have a far more prominent part in the miniseries. As a narrator, he may provide modern-day interludes between scenes or chapters of the story.
Considering that Jaskier, aka Dandelion, is the narrator of both The Witcher 2 and The Witcher 3, would be a perfect fit. According to a source on the same site, Netflix plans to begin airing The Witcher: Blood Origin in October. A different source, though, predicts that it will arrive in December. Netflix has only given a debut date of “later in 2022” as of this writing.
