Although 2022 has been a fantastic year for horror, the imminent release of Halloween Ends promises to make things even great for fans of the genre. Since Halloween Kills embarked on a bloody spree last year, there has been considerable conjecture about how Laurie Strode and Michael Myer’s saga will conclude. With that in mind, Universal and Blumhouse have officially unveiled the first trailer for Halloween Ends, which is set to arrive in theatres three months from now. Halloween is classic in this 76-second teaser, which puts viewers in the shoes of The Shape in a sequence that evokes the start of the 1978 film.
However, Laurie Strode, played by Jamie Lee Curtis, is waiting for him upstairs and is on a mission of revenge. More of the new trilogy’s teaser film shows a rematch between the two renowned enemies. Michael attempting to put Laurie’s hand down a garbage disposal is reminiscent of their bloody brawl from Halloween 2018. The Boogeyman’s hand gets stabbed completely through by the fabled final girl. Laurie’s activities on Halloween night of 2018 resulted in a hand with only three fingers. As a teaser for the genre’s most anticipated heavyweight rematch of the century, this video does a great job of setting the mood. This isn’t all; the trailer alternates between several individuals screaming and video from 1978 for an extra touch that makes it much more enjoyable.
We also get our first glance at the returning Haddonfield survivors, including Andi Matichak’s Allison and Will Patton’s Officer Hawkins, both of whom don’t seem too thrilled to be back. This might be a clue as to what will become of Laurie in the next slasher film. As a final note, the tease has some of the filmmaker David Gordon Green’s trademark easter eggs. The teaser’s crimson mansion is one of the more subtle hints. Since 1988’s Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers is a cult favourite in the franchise, this house appears very identical to Rachel’s house from the original film. That kind of attention to detail should make even the most frightened Halloween enthusiast happy. Besides the fact that it takes place four years in the future and that it will address current real-world concerns in some way, not much is known about the narrative of this last film.
In spite of this, it appears that Ends will be yet another gruesome picture in the series. ‘Halloween Kills,’ as the title suggests, delivered on its promise. Tommy, Brackett, and Laurie’s daughter Karen were all brutally murdered by Michael Myers in this nasty and bloody Halloween sequel. Kills concluded on a cliffhanger as a result of the latter. Most of the film was devoted to Laurie’s recuperation from the injuries she incurred while filming Halloween 2018. But this final picture has her as its central character once again.
So much has happened to the character and her family since their time in the 2018 revival. A happy ending for Laurie seems unlikely given the circumstances. It’s almost as if somebody is going to die at this point. Whatever the case may be, this teaser masterfully sets up the ultimate, dreadful confrontation between Michael and Laurie, whether it’s the former or the latter.
On October 14, 2022, Halloween Ends will be slaughtering its way into theatres.
