The Weeknd’s HBO series ‘The Idol’ will include Blackpink’s Jennie: Synopsis, Cast & Release Date Details

Blackpink’s Jennie will be on display in The Idol for fans to view. With The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp, Kim has been cast in an unspecified role in the next series. “I found the screenplay incredibly fascinating, therefore I wanted to be a part of the series,” Kim said through her agency to Korean news agency Yonhap. “I’m giddy with anticipation. Please keep an eye on me as I put in a lot of effort.” From its beginnings in 2016, Blackpink has had Kim as one of its members.

Blackpink has released two studio albums: The Album and Blackpink in Your Area. Caroline Suh, the director of the upcoming Netflix documentary Blackpink: Light Up the Sky, chose to focus on the girl group as the subject of her work. “Solo” was Kim’s debut solo song released in 2018. Abel Tesfaye (better known as The Weeknd) and Johnny Depp have already been cast in the show, as have Troye Sivan, Debby Ryan, Rachel Senott, Steve Zissis, and Melaine Liburd, who were all previously revealed. Cult leaders and self-help experts will be the focus of the Idol. It was produced by Tesfaye, Sam Levinson, and Reza Fahim, and the guru has a connection with a pop idol during the series.

Aside from starring in Uncut Gems, an episode of The Simpsons this year, and the American Dad! In the episode “A Starboy Is Born” in 2020, Tesfaye has also starred in a number of television shows. Joel Hurwitz and Tesfaye co-wrote “A Starboy Is Born” as well. The Idol co-creator Levinson was also the film’s director. He was a co-creator of Euphoria and also wrote and directed the films Malcolm & Marie in 2021 and Assassination Nation in 2018.

Aaron L. Gilbert, of Bron Studios, is executive producer alongside Kevin Turen, Ashley Levinson, Nick Hall, Sara E White, and the others. HBO Programming Executive Vice President Francesca Orsi previously stated that “when the multi-talented Abel ‘The Weeknd’ Tesfaye, Reza Fahim, & Sam Levinson brought us The Idol, it was crystal clear that their subversive revelatory take on the cult of the music industry was unlike that HBO had ever done before.”
HBO Max has yet to set a specific date for airing The Idol.
