Inspired by Howard Blum’s best-selling novel, Sony Pictures Television will produce and star in the TV series Night of the Assassins with Emmy Award-winning actor Jharrel Jerome, Deadline has exclusively learned. In addition to co-writing, Jonathan Mostow is engaged to direct the episodes of the series. The movie Night of the Assassins, which is based on a historical story from World War II, will take place during this time period. In addition to U-571, Mostow has also directed Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines and U-571.
During a 1943 meeting in Tehran, Iran, Jerome will portray Eddie Booker, an African-American soldier who helps foil a Nazi-led murder plot on global leaders such as Franklin D. Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, and Joseph Stalin. Even though World War II came to an end over eighty years ago, innumerable stories from that chaotic period of history have been depicted in cinema and television. To bring the unreported tragedy into public awareness, a television version of Blum’s Night of the Assassins: The Untold Story of Hitler’s Plot to Kill FDR and Churchill and Stalin is coming to television.
Night of the Assassins is shaping up to be a fascinating political thriller coming to television, despite the fact that the plot aspects of the show remain a secret. As Korey Wise in the Netflix miniseries, When They See Us, Jerome was nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie for his performance. As a teenager, he starred in Moonlight, where he played Kevin. The film was well acclaimed and won the Best Picture Oscar at the 86th Academy Awards.
In addition to Mr Mercedes and Concrete Cowboy, Jerome appears on television. In addition to Glenn Geller, Bob Bookman, Peter Jaysen, and Alan Gasmer, the series is executive produced by 24 producers Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa. There isn’t any more casting or production information available at this time because the show is still in its early stages of development. However, Night of the Assassins might be an exciting series for history scholars and casual viewers alike when it premieres at some point in the future with a brilliant actor at the heart of a potentially captivating plot.
The release date for Night of the Assassins is still up in the air.
