Hanna-Barbera Studios has hired Craig McCracken to create new episodes of Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends and The Powerpuff Girls. The animator was the original creator of both popular ’90s cartoons. Foster’s Home, a 2004 animated television series on the value of making and keeping friends, was based on the true story of a woman named Madame Foster who houses children’s lost or outgrown imaginary friends.
Also, Professor Utonium’s three super-powered pre-school kids, Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup, work together to safeguard their town from a variety of perils in The Powerpuff Girls. After 30 years away, the Emmy Award-winning filmmaker, producer, and creator is returning to the studio where he began his career in 1992 to direct the reboots. “The Hanna-Barbera homecoming of Craig was a chance we could not pass up,” stated Cartoon Network Studios, Warner Bros. Animation, and Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe President Sam Register in an official statement.
Both Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends and The Powerpuff Girls will be part of his legacy at the studio, as will his unmatched sense of humour and imaginative flair. We can barely contain our excitement.” As an all-new preschool animated series, Foster’s Home for Imaginary Pals will have an all-new ensemble of imaginary friends the same age as the originals. Many honours and critical praise have been bestowed on the original series, which aired for six seasons on Cartoon Network. Six Emmys were bestowed upon the show throughout its existence.
Some of the show’s most beloved characters included Mac, who was voiced by Sean Marquette, Wilt, who was played by Phil LaMarr, Eduardo, who was played by Tom Kenny, and Coco, who was played by Candi Milo. In the new Powerpuff Girls relaunch, Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup will face off against a variety of villains, both old and new, as they try to save the planet from a variety of perils. A total of two Emmy Awards and a slew of other animation accolades were bestowed to the original series, which premiered in 1998 on Cartoon Network.
Blossom was played by Cathy Cavadini, Bubbles by Tara Strong, and Buttercup by E. G. Daily in the original series. Sarah Fell, the studio’s VP of Original Kids and Family Animation, will supervise the progress of both projects. The Heroic Quest of the Valiant Prince Ivandoe, The Amazing World of Gumball: The Movie!, and The Amazing World of Gumball: The Series on HBO Max and Cartoon Network are all currently in development at Hanna-Barbera Studios.
