In the forthcoming second season of NBC’s La Brea, Jonno Roberts (Wrecked) will have a prominent recurring role. According to Deadline, Roberts will portray James Mallet, a bright scientist and businessman who just might be attempting to rescue the planet.
La Brea depicts the story of a family torn apart when a giant sinkhole breaks up in Los Angeles, drawing people and structures into an unfathomable primaeval realm. It was written and executive produced by David Applebaum (The Mentalist).
Survivors returning in the contemporary world struggle to discover the riddle of sinkholes so that they might save people they’ve lost in their time before the birth of civilization. The Harris family is caught in the middle of two parallel universes as a result of the horrific incident. After Josh (Jack Martin, All Rise) accidentally stepped through a vortex that sent him back to 1988, his mother Eve (Natalie Zea, Justified) is left dazed and confused in Season 2. As for her ex-husband Gavin and their daughter Izzy (Zyra Gorecki, Chicago Fire), they’ve landed in ancient Seattle and must now traverse the treacherous world to go back to L.A.
It would be intriguing to see how Roberts’ role fits into the tale throughout Season 2. As Declan Stanwick in TBS’s original series Wrecked, Roberts is well-known for his portrayal as a survivor of an aircraft accident on a remote island. In Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, he played Draco Malfoy. Blaine in Adam Ruins Everything on TruTV and Stage Murray in Flight of the Conchords in New Zealand is a couple of his other roles. Additional television credits include appearances on shows such as The Rookie, Sweet Tooth, Quantico and The Good Place as well as recurring roles in these and other projects.
Veronica St. Clair (13 Reasons Why), Josh McKenzie (Filthy Rich), Lily Santiago (Vineyards), Rohan Mirchandaney (Hotel Mumbai), Tonantzin Carmelo (Imprint) and Michelle Vergara Moore (La Brea) are the other members of the La Brea cast (The Usual Suspects).
Keshet Studios and Universal Studio Group are involved in the show’s production. Along with Applebaum, Avi Nir, Alon Shtruzman, Peter Traugott, Rachel Kaplan, Steven Lilien, Bryan Wynbrandt and Ken Woodruff serve as executive producers on the film.
The second season of NBC’s La Brea will air on Tuesday, September 27 at 9 p.m. ET.
