Role Play, starring Kaley Cuoco, David Oyelowo, and Bill Nighy, has added actor Connie Nielsen to the ensemble, according to Deadline. The film has the potential to become a franchise and is being dubbed a stunning action thriller. Cuoco and Oyelowo star as a young married couple whose world is flipped upside down when they learn truths about one another’s pasts. Nighy portrays a stranger who enters their life and captivates them. Other aspects of the film, including those involving Nielsen’s role, are being withheld as well. However, the star-studded ensemble and intriguing high-concept plot promise a gripping thriller. Richard Madden plays a wounded war veteran tasked with protecting a controversial political figure in Jed Mercurio’s political thriller Role Play, which is directed by French director Thomas Vincent.
His most recent project was the Jack Reacher pilot for Amazon and Skydance TV, which he just directed. George Heller, the show’s creator and executive producer, came up with the concept for Role Play. He earlier penned Ridley Scott’s Morgan, starring Kate Mara and Anya Taylor-Joy, in which Seth Owen wrote the script. The co-writing credit goes to Andrew Baldwin. For her role as Queen Hippolyta in the Wonder Woman films starring Gal Gadot and Chris Pine and directed by Patty Jenkins, Nielsen has gained a cult following. In Zack Snyder’s Justice League, she reprised the role. In addition to her work with Russell Crowe in the Academy Award-winning film Gladiator, you may recall her from other roles.
Close to Me with Christopher Eccleston and Martha Coolidge’s I’ll Find You with Stellan Skarsgrd are two of her current roles. She also had a role in The Dreamer, which had its world debut at the Cannes Film Festival this year. Among her other acting credits are Boss, The Following, The Good Wife, and The Following.
Cuoco’s Yes Norman Productions is behind the production of Role Play, which is presently filming in Berlin, Germany. The Flight Attendant, an Emmy-nominated HBO Max comedy-drama based on Chris Bohjalian’s novel of the same name, was also conceived, executive produced and starred in by the Big Bang Theory veteran. Besides Alex Heineman and Andrew Rona, Cuoco’s Picture Company partners are also involved in the production. Role Play’s release date has not yet been announced.
