Summation of the previous chapter
The battle between Vegeta and Gas in Dragon Ball Super Chapter 85 began. Despite taking multiple hits from his opponent, the prince’s Ultra Ego only served to strengthen him. The Ultra Instinct was insulted by Vegeta as they were battling, which causes Goku to wonder what this implies. Due to Vegeta’s deteriorating health, the Ultra Ego proved to be too much for him to bear. When Gas fell to the ground, Goku stepped in to face him, but something was off about him. It was revealed that the Saiyan found out how to activate his Ultra Instinct without regulating his feelings.
Gas can no longer damage Goku, no matter how powerful he becomes as a result of this new power. Goku soon subdues the alien, which enrages Elek because of his brother’s lack of power. Gas will unleash a new power in Dragon Ball Super Chapter 86 that will surprise Goku. Smiling smugly at his brothers, Elek will return to the family home. Using his telekinetic powers, Gas will cause Goku to hover in midair and suffocate him without even making physical contact. To get out of his paralysed state, Goku had to use Instant Transmission. Gas will be caught off guard by the Saiyan’s strike from behind, but the alien will somehow know where Goku is and smack him in the face. Goku will get to his feet and prepare to battle again, clutching his face in anguish, but he will be surprised when Gas appears behind him. It’s likely that the alien will conjure a tornado to ensnare Goku, then fling him against the mountains.
How would Goku fare in the face of such a formidable foe?
With these new Dragon Ball Super Chapter 86 revelations, it appears as if Gas will be an insurmountable obstacle for either Goku or Vegeta. When Goku can’t even tell where the alien is going to fire his next assault, the strength gap between the new Gas and the Saiyan is astronomical. Even so, we must keep in mind that Goku’s new Ultra Instinct is still in its infancy and hence not fully developed. Prior to his battle, he learned that he could not control his emotions in this state. It takes time for the body to adjust to this new level of power in Dragon Ball.
Dragon Ball Super Chapter 86 spoilers and the official storyboard have yet to indicate how vital Goku’s emotions will be in this battle, although hints have been made in both places. Angry by the prospect of being engulfed by Gas, his Ultra Instincts might shift to a different form. Emotions will be the driving force behind this new version of the most potent technique for Saiyan warriors. That’s why during this fight, Goku’s ability to unleash his rage would give him an advantage over Gas’s newfound strength.
