Neve Campbell has stated that Sidney Prescott was supposed to appear in the sixth instalment of the Scream franchise. The actor withdrew his participation in the production because of a disagreement around the payment. Campbell stated this at a panel at Mad Monster Party Arizona. Screen Rant was the source for this information. “There were plans for Sidney, and regrettably, they are no longer,” Campbell added. “I have no doubt that they will produce a quality film.”
Since Campbell was in all five of the previous Scream films, it is safe to say that the sixth instalment will be quite different from the rest of the films in the franchise. The actor said in a statement, “Unfortunately, I won’t be participating in the production of the subsequent Scream picture.” “Because I am a woman, I’ve had to put in a tremendous amount of effort throughout my career to prove my worth, particularly with regard to Scream,” she continued. “I did not believe the offer that was made to me was commensurate with the value that I had contributed to the franchise,” you said.
But despite the fact that Campbell won’t be back, Hayden Panettiere will be reprising the part of Kirby that she had in Scream 4 when the movie comes out. In addition, Courteney Cox will reprise her role as Gale Weathers. The character of Dewey Riley, played by David Arquette, was unfortunately terminated in Scream 5, which was just titled Scream, thus we won’t be able to see him again.
Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, and Jenna Ortega are all returning cast members from the last film, and directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett will once again helm the production. Jack Champion, Devyn Nekoda, Liana Liberato, Josh Segarra, and Dermot Mulroney are some of the new faces who have been added to the group. On March 31, 2023, Scream 6 will finally be released.
