According to Deadline, the actor Rafael Casal, who is currently starring in the series Blindspotting, will be joining the cast of the Disney+ series Loki for its second season. In spite of the fact that the specifics of Casal’s character in the show’s second instalment are being kept under wraps, it is anticipated that the part he will play will be a “important” one.
In addition to Tom Hiddleston (who plays Loki), Owen Wilson (who plays Mobius), Gugu Mbatha-Raw (who plays Ravonna Renslayer), and Eugene Cordero, he is one of the few cast members from Season 1 who have been confirmed to return for Loki’s season (TVA receptionist Casey). Blindspotting was Casal’s first feature film, which he also helped produce, co-wrote, and co-starred in opposite Daveed Diggs in 2018. The film was released in 2018. After the success of the film, Starz decided to turn it into a comedy-drama series with the same name.
The series, which Casal and Diggs executive produce in addition to starring in, has been given the green light for a 2nd season by the network. Other works by Casal include the revival of the Are You Afraid of the Dark? series on Nickelodeon, as well as The Good Lord Bird and Bad Education on Showtime and HBO, respectively. The first season of Loki was completed with six episodes and made its debut on Disney+ in the previous year. After quickly becoming among the most popular Marvel Cinematic Universe shows on the streaming site, it was the first Marvel series to be picked up for a second season.
The only other Marvel series to have gotten renewed is the animated multiverse series What If…? The plot of Loki revolves around the Norse god of mischief in the aftermath of the events of Avengers: Endgame in 2019. An alternate version of Loki, known as a variant, quickly finds himself in the custody of the Time Variance Authority (TVA) after stealing the Tesseract during the course of that film. The TVA is an organisation which exists outside of time and space and is tasked with monitoring and preserving the “Sacred Timeline.”
The first season of Loki was left off on a significant cliffhanger. The Sacred Timeline had been broken, and now it was up to Loki and Sylvie (played by Sophia Di Martino) to cope with the ramifications and the implications. Last month was the beginning of filming for Season 2, although very few specifics have been revealed about what is going to happen next with the series. Stay tuned for additional developments on everything and everything related to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but currently, there is no official release date for Loki Season 2. The first season of Loki, which consists of six episodes, is presently available to view in its entirety on Disney+.
