Gutsy has been added to Apple TV+’s growing library of critically acclaimed documentaries. As they honour the women who have inspired them, the film will reveal the hitherto unseen interaction between former US Secretary of State Hilary Rodham Clinton and her daughter, Chelsea Clinton. It is based on the best-selling book, The Book of Gutsy Women, and will showcase the Clintons as they commemorate the women who have inspired them throughout their lives.
According to the description of the show, it follows the Clintons on a “thought-provoking tour” to meet “pioneering women artists, activists, community leaders, and ordinary heroines who demonstrate what it means to be courageous.” Among the stars anticipated to appear in the series are Kim Kardashian, Megan Thee Stallion, Dr Jane Goodall, Gloria Steinem and Wanda Sykes, Amy Schumer, Goldie Hawn and Kate Hudson, as well as a host of others. They’ll sit down with their mothers and daughters to talk about the things that mean most to them, as well as how they’re making a difference in the world around them.
Gutsy joins Apple TV+’s expanding appeal for a wide range of engaging content, from feature films to family-friendly entertainment, with the series finding a home on the platform. Boys State, which won an Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series, was one of the many award nominations and wins that Apple TV+ received when it launched. Gutsy Women was the initial name of the series when it was first revealed in December 2020. Apple has partnered with the Clintons’ HiddenLight Productions (formed with Sam Branson) on Gutsy, which is being developed for the firm by Left/Right LLC.
Among the executive producers are Hillary and Chelsea Clinton as well as Johnny Webb and Siobhan Sinnerton as well as Roma Khanna, Ken Druckerman, Banks Tarver, and Anna Chai as directors. Huma Abedin and Bari Lurie will serve as consulting producers with Kevin Vargas and Claire Featherstone as producers. The show will be run by Chai. On September 9, Apple TV+ subscribers will be able to watch Gutsy.
