A sultry new Showtime series, American Gigolo, has been premiered in the first official teaser. Ten-episode series starring Jon Bernthal as sex worker Julian Kaye will air on Showtime on September 9 and tells the narrative of a man searching for the truth while battling to maintain his identity. It’s possible that you’ve forgotten that American Gigolo is a modern reinterpretation of the 1980 movie of the same name, written & directed by Paul Schrader and starring Richard Gere as Julian Kaye. the escort’s personal life and the Los Angeles sex market now that he’s spent so much time behind bars, the series follows Julian fifteen years after his imprisonment for murder, which will see him struggle to recover his feet.
A classic Bernthal-esque character, Julian, is on a mission to find out who framed him for murder while simultaneously trying to get in touch with Michelle, the one person he cares about the most. Despite the fact that the pilot of American Gigolo, which also stars Bernthal, was picked up for a series order in June of last year, this is our first look at the suspense drama. Blondie’s “Call Me,” the single composed for the original film that went on to top the Billboard Hot 100 charts for six weeks and become the Debbie Harry-led band’s most iconic tune, makes a welcome return to the series.
Bernthal proves once again that he is capable of leading any production with his acting prowess and beauty in this film. American Gigolo has been a long-awaited Showtime project, in part because the show’s development has been delayed several times due to issues with COVID. After charges of misbehaviour, the show’s original creator David Hollander quit the production; nevertheless, it appears that production will restart under the leadership of a new showrunner in time for the show’s debut in September. In addition to Gretchen Mol, Rosie O’Donnell, Lizzie Brocheré and Leland Orser, American Gigolo debuts on Showtime on September 9th.
