In a press release, Syfy revealed that their upcoming series, Reginald the Vampire, would premiere on October 5 at 10 p.m. The network released a colourful teaser to go along with the announcement of the launch date. Vampires aren’t lurking in the shadows anymore; they’re enjoying their undead lives out and about, and they’re doing it in style. This brief film sets the scene. Jacob Batalon (Spider-Man: No Way Home) will star as the title character, a vampire who, on the surface, doesn’t seem to fit in with the rest of his species. This is a show about night-time animals that are both conventionally gorgeous and robust.
Despite not being able to see themselves in a mirror, viewers will be able to appreciate their beauty since others can see it, too. Reginald, meantime, is fighting to stay alive against those who wish to see his demise, including his irksome boss at work and the egotistical leader of his vampire coven. Reginald is in love with a girl he knows he can’t be with, which means that his romantic life is in danger. Reginald, to put it politely, is having a horrible day.
But despite all of these obstacles and more, we’re going to watch the good-hearted bloodsucker struggle to triumph – or at least keep himself out of the crypt. In addition to Emily Haine, Mandela Van Peebles, Aren Buchholz, Rachelle Goulding, Savannah Basley, Georgia Waters, Andre Anthony, and Thailey Roberge, the series is based on Johnny B. Truant’s Fat Vampire books. Harley Peyton, who wrote the screenplays for Twin Peaks and Chucky, will handle the adaptation. Along with Jeremiah Chechik, Todd Berger, Lindsay Macadam, Brett Burlock, and Peter Emerson, he’ll serve as the showrunner and executive producer.
Great Pacific Media Inc., Modern Story Company, December Films, and Cineflix Studios will produce the show. What We Do in the Shadows-inspired series What We Do in the Shadows, Reginald the Vampire seeks to stay up with the comic style of comparable programmes like Reginald, but focuses on the definition of “beautiful.” Despite not fitting the beef-cake model of a vampire, the main character will negotiate his new (after)life as someone who accepts and appreciates himself exactly as he is.
When Reginald the Vampire premieres on Syfy on October 5, don’t miss it!
