Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures’ Dune: Part Two, based on the second half of Frank Herbert’s original novel, has now added Souheila Yacoub to its ensemble. Shishakli, a Fremen chieftain, will be played by her in the highly anticipated film. Yacoub has been added to the cast of Dune: Part 2 by Deadline. Florence Pugh, Christopher Walken, and Austin Butler have all just confirmed their casting decisions. In addition to Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, and Josh Brolin, who are all returning from the previous film, Yacoub joins a star-studded ensemble cast that already includes Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, and Josh Brolin.
Denis Villeneuve returns to write, direct, produce and co-write Dune: Part Two with Jon Spaihts. The film is to be released on October 20, 2023, and production is planned to begin in the fall of this year. Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Tanya Lapointe, and Patrick McCormick are producing with Villeneuve. Herbert W. Gains, Herbert W. Grode, Brian Herbert, Byron Merrit, Kim Herbert, Thomas Tull, Spaihts, Richard P. Rubinstein, and John Harrison are among the film’s executive producers. The creative consultant is Kevin J. Anderson. Even though the original Dune premiered on HBO Max the same day it opened in cinemas, the picture nonetheless made $41 million over its initial weekend. Only a few weeks later, a sequel was commissioned when ticket sales and critical acclaim surpassed expectations.
At the global box office, Dune has brought about $400 million to far. The movie was nominated for ten Oscars, including best picture, and ended up winning six of them. Gaspar Noe’s 2018 psychological thriller Climax features Yacoub as one of the dancers whose sangria is contaminated with LSD, and she is most recognised for that role. De Bas Etages, directed by Yassine Qnia, and The Braves, directed by Anas Volpé, both of them were selected for the Cannes Film Festival, round out her filmography. The actress also appeared in Philippe Garrel’s The Salt of Tears which premiered at the Berlinale. Among her other credits are a lead in Rebecca Zlotowski’s critically acclaimed drama series Les Sauvages and Oded Ruskin’s epic war thriller No Man’s Land on Arte/Hulu.
