An authorised version of LEGO. NBC’s critically-acclaimed sitcom The Office is getting an entirely new set thanks to Twitter. Jai Jai Lewis, a lifelong admirer of the programme and LEGOs, was the driving force behind the creation of the enigmatic new set. If the tweet is any indicator, we should expect to hear more about it shortly. Lego’s official Twitter account shared a snapshot of what seemed to be an employee’s workstation on July 14. The attention was drawn to the bright yellow JELL-O mould with the green LEGO piece floating within. There is a tape dispenser in the backdrop with “Dwight” written over it if you look closely.
“The thing about a practical joke is that you have to know when to stop… too bad we’re just getting started,” read the caption on the photo from the world’s largest toy company. On The Office, Michael Scott (Steve Carell) spoke the statement in response to Jim Halpert (John Krasinski) pranking Dwight K. Schrute in the premiere episode of the programme, which is a parody of the quotation. The Office set has been in and out of production for a long time, so it’s reasonable to presume an official announcement will be made shortly! From Mrs Braverman’s cheesecake on the hall floor to the “Original Buffay” artwork, LEGO released a Friends homage set in 2021 that included both legendary residences. LEGO also released a Seinfeld set soon after.
Fans of The Office will have lots to look forward to with this highly-anticipated new set from the iconic toy brick manufacturer, which is famed for its attention to detail and small surprises. The announcement is already making ripples on LEGO’s social media, with passionate “Take my money !’s” and “Finally !’s” from enthusiasts replying enthusiastically. It was longtime Office fan Lewis who came up with the concept for a LEGO set. Lewis had an opportunity to be interviewed by LEGO Ideas, a platform for masters of the LEGO arts to submit ideas for new sets and compete for prizes. As a boy, Lewis was given a basic set by his father, which had “about 60 components in this tiny red plastic suitcase I would take around everywhere because I liked it,” he reveals in an interview.
My younger sister and I would spend hours imagining new universes together. It’s safe to say that the years of practice have paid off. Lewis made his inventions public in 2020, which featured the full “Michael’s office, the Conference room, and the sales area,” as well as the entire cast of the show. There were almost 10,000 people who showed their support for Lewis’s goal, in addition to the actors and crew: I’ve been so fortunate in the past to have the support of various members of the cast, crew, and fans, and I’m hopeful that luck will continue this time around!
The Office is a nine-season comedy that ran on NBC from 2005 to 2013. As a spinoff from the British sitcom The Office, The Office portrayed the daily lives of Dunder-Mifflin employees in Pennsylvania. Dwight Schrute, Kevin Malone, and the epic love story of Jim Halpert and Pam Beesly (Jenna Fischer) are just a few examples of the show’s many memorable characters, which ranged from Scranton, Pennsylvania to Stamford, Connecticut. Many more well-known actors were also featured on the show like Angela Kinsey, Mindy Kaling and Craig Robinson. The Office set’s release date is still a mystery.
