AMC is building anticipation for their highly anticipated anthology series Tales of the Walking Dead by promoting it ahead of their forthcoming SDCC panel. In addition to the new poster art showcasing some of the all-star cast, a teaser clip lasting just over 30 seconds was released on July 14 to offer fans a taste of the wide range of tones included in the stand-alone episodes of the upcoming show. The Walking Dead Universe offshoot anthology series will launch on AMC and AMC+ on Sunday, August 14 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
It’s becoming more and more usual for established “universes” like The Boys and, of course, the MCU and DCEU, to allow writers to produce fanfiction or spinoffs that branch from the original source.
The six-hour-long episodes of AMC’s Tales of the Walking Dead, produced by writer Scott Gimple, have opened up the post-apocalyptic world to examine individual storylines. Tales’ teaser video features the sound of a clock ticking ominously over bits of the show’s footage. During the pilot episode, Parker Posey, who plays Blair, asks fans and Gina (Jillian Bell) if they’d want to try something new.’ Posey and Bell seem completely out of place in a post-walker world, despite the fact that no information about the episodes has been released. The two are casually conversing in an office environment while dressed to the nines. Fans will recognise Samantha Morton’s character Alpha from the original AMC smash show as she can be heard stating, “Time to show you how to survive,” and we see Daniella Pineda turn and face a ghostly walker.
To give viewers an idea of what to anticipate, the teaser has Terry Crews holding a young goat and laughingly wondering, “What is going on?” It’s possible that each episode has a distinct writer, director, and major topic. Fans may expect to learn more about Alpha’s origins in Posey and Bell’s episode, which looks to include a corporation named Circle of Trust. The teaser also shows someone who appears to be Lydia’s younger sister learning survival skills from Alpha. Teaser photos include Jessie T.
Usher from The Boys, Hack’s Poppy Liu clutching an improvised weapon in a dangerous setting, and an amusing dialogue between Terry Crews and Olivia Munn in the trailer. Channing Powell, Ahmadu Garba, and Lindsey Villarreal, who collaborated on Netflix’s upcoming Resident Evil series, are just a few of the writers working on Tales of the Walking Dead. Embeth Davidtz, Danny Ramirez, Loan Chabanol, Anthony Edwards, and Matt Medrano are among the prominent cast members. It will release at 9 p.m. ET on AMC on August 14th in the first episode of Tales of the Walking Dead. It will begin streaming the 1st two episodes on AMC+ on August 14, with future episodes being available on the AMC streamer a week early beginning August 21.
