Netflix’s popular anthology series Black Mirror is returning after a three-year absence. Season 6 will have an all-star cast, including Atlanta’s Zazie Beetz and Aaron Paul of The Wire (Breaking Bad). Variety reports that three episodes of Season 6 of the famous show, which is already reportedly in production, had revealed their casts. Among the other newcomers are Josh Hartnett, Kate Mara (House of Cards), Danny Ramirez (Top Gun: Maverick), Clara Rugaard, Auden Thornton, and Anjana Vasan, all of whom previously appeared in The Lazarus Project and The Lazarus Project.
Due to this casting, it is expected that additional actors will sign on for future episodes of the series. Since the fifth season of the popular drama aired, viewers were left wondering if the series had come to an end. After the success of Black Mirror Season 6, the seventh season of the dystopian drama will return in May. The upcoming season of the show will include more episodes than the last one, but the specifics of its comeback are still being kept under wraps. A three-part season of Black Mirror, which starred Andrew Scott, Anthony Mackie, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Topher Grace (from That 70s Show), and Miley Cyrus, aired in June 2019. The first season after Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones parted ways with House of Tomorrow in January 2020 to form a new production firm Broke and Bones, the show’s creators. Soon after, Netflix made a large investment in the firm, perhaps worth up to $100 million.
House of Tomorrow’s future was threatened by the fact that Endemol Shine, who financed Black Mirror, still owned the rights to the show. However, Netflix worked out an agreement with Banijay Group, which purchased Endemol Shine in 2018, to allow the show to be licenced. Jeff Beetz, most known for his role as a van on FX’s Atlanta with Donald Glover and LaKeith Stanfield, has now appeared in Deadpool 2 as the luck-wielding mercenary Domino. Beetz, on the other hand, is a Black Mirror veteran, having appeared in the show’s first season.
Season 4 episode “USS Callister” had a one-minute appearance by the actor, renowned for his work on Westworld and BoJack Horseman, as Gamer 691. Actors Ramirez and Rugaard have recently been in Top Gun: Maverick and Look Both Ways, respectively, while Rugaard recently starred in the series The Rising. After appearing in Gangs of London and The Lazarus Project, Essiedu joins Black Mirror. On top of that, Hartnett is set to star in Christopher Nolan’s next film Oppenheimer, which he will direct and star in. In addition to This Is Us, Thornton also appeared as Lucy Damon in the Channel 4 and Peacock comedy We Are Lady Parts. Netflix has made the first five seasons of Black Mirror available to watch right now!
