Although the Fast & Furious movie franchise has announced that it would not produce any more instalments in its film series, this does not necessarily indicate that the franchise will be discontinued altogether. Ludacris has hinted that there might be other spin-offs and continuations of the series with various casts in the future. The musician-turned-actor, who has played Tej Parker since he was introduced in 2003’s 2 Fast 2 Furious, was asked about the two-parter Fast X, which is currently filming, & its follow-up, which is set to conclude the Vin Diesel-fronted chapter in a recent interview with Fatherly.
“The best things in life always come to an end. We are now filming Fast 10, which will serve as the conclusion to the franchise. However, this does not indicate that it cannot be recovered at a later time, does it?” he promised the audience. “Consider the movie Jurassic Park. That brings us to the finish. However, they gave it a new lease of life in a different way. As a result, it is my sincere wish that the Fast series would continue indefinitely. Who knows, maybe one day it may be our offspring who carry the tradition on.” The Fast and the Furious franchise has already experimented with the concept of spin-offs with the creation of the film Hobbs & Shaw.
Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham reprised their roles as Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw, respectively, in the action thriller. Their characters grudgingly worked together to stop a genetically enhanced supervillain, and the movie sidestepped both Dom Toretto and the arcs of the major movies. Fast 10 will now be released in theatres on May 19 of the next year, despite the fact that it was initially going to be released around Easter Weekend 2023.
In addition to Ludacris and Diesel, freshly announced cast members include Jason Momoa, who played Aquaman, Brie Larson, who played Captain Marvel, and Daniela Melchior, who became famous after appearing in The Suicide Squad last year. In addition, returning cast members include Sung Kang (in her role as Han Lue), Nathalie Emmanuel (as Ramsey), Michelle Rodriguez (as Letty Ortiz), and Charlize Theron (as Cypher).
