A Trailer for ‘Uncoupled,’ starring Neil Patrick Harris in his 40s, shows him re-entering the dating pool: Official Synopsis, Cast & More

Coming out tales and the “bury the homosexuals” cliché have long since faded from the TV landscape, so the LGBTQIA+ community may now enjoy some lighthearted movies and shows. Neil Patrick Harris stars as a man in his mid-40s who finds himself single again after a 17-year relationship ends in the new comedy Uncoupled. After nearly two decades away from the dating scene, he’ll have to re-learn what it’s like to be single in New York City. The end of Michael Lawson’s (Harris) marital life is shown in the Uncoupled trailer, which shows that his longtime partner just up and leaves on the night of his birthday, which comes as a shock to him.

On Sex and the City vibes, Michael braves the Big Apple for parties, dates, and casual get-togethers with his buddies while he looks for a new girlfriend. The teaser for Uncoupled also suggests that Harris’ character will realise how much dating has changed since he was single for the last time, which is sure to be entertaining. Strangers asking for dick pictures, throuples, and young men searching for a “daddy” are all too common on dating apps. He has a long way to go in his education.

As the teaser shows, there will be plenty of risqué themes and images, so anticipate some hot scenes to liven up the plot. Uncoupled’s sex and city vibes aren’t accidental: An Emmy Award winner, Darren Starr, is a co-creator of the HBO popular series and its sequel, which was just renewed for Season 2 on HBO Max. Jeffrey Richman, a six-time Emmy Award winner who previously wrote for Frasier and Modern Family, co-creates Uncoupled with Starr. Marcia Gay Harden, Brooks Ashmanskas, Emerson Brooks, Tuc Watkins, and Tisha Campbell round out the cast of My Wife and Kids (The Morning Show).
Uncoupled will debut on Netflix on the 29th of July.

Official synopsis:
Everything seems to be going as per the plan for Michael Lawson (Neil Patrick Harris), in this episode of The 100. As a successful New York real estate agent, he has a loving family, close friends, and a long-lasting relationship with his long-term boyfriend, Colin (Tuc Watkins). However, Michael is taken entirely by surprise when, on the eve of his 50th birthday, Colin decides to move out. After losing the guy he thought was his soulmate, he is confronted with the terror of finding himself as a gay man in his 40s in New York City.
