The Doctor Strange 2 producer makes a clue about the Illuminati’s potential role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Illuminati could make another appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, according to Richie Palmer, a co-producer on “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.” The mysterious superhero organisation was created in the sequel movie after Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch killed everyone saves for Chiwetel Ejiofor’s Mordo during her homicidal spree.
There were several curious cameos in the group. After the movie’s events, though, it remained unknown what would happen to them. They are a clandestine organisation that runs unassisted by the authorities. They participate in things that other organisations, like the Avengers, wouldn’t be very excited about, yet they nonetheless do so. Palmer explains in the Disney Plus video titled “The Making of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.”
We get to meet a version of this organisation in this other world, and we still could get to see an Illuminati of our normal MCU one day, which is also extremely exciting, so doing it in an alternate reality in the multiverse was a pretty interesting thing, he added. “It was incredibly fascinating to perform it in another reality in the multiverse.” If the Illuminati ever make another appearance, it is presently unknown if John Krasinski, Hayley Atwell, Patrick Stewart, Lashana Lynch, Anson Mount, or Chiwetel Ejiofor will return to play their respective parts.
Sam Raimi’s comments appear to rule out Krasinski’s return as a member of the Illuminati in the upcoming Fantastic Four film. The implication of the remark is that the actor’s participation was only a shout-out to his followers. In the audio commentary for the movie, he commented, “It’s so amusing that [Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige] selected John because the fans had a dream of who the perfect Reed Richards would be.” And since this is a parallel reality, I believe Kevin responded, “Let’s make that dream come true,” the author said. Because of fans’ fantasies about the ideal Reed Richards, it’s amusing that Marvel Studios CEO Kevin Feige cast John.
It is hard to say whether or not we shall see this precise group of characters again given the nature of the world.
