Amazon has released the first official image from Samaritan, a new superhero film starring Sylvester Stallone that will be made available on Amazon Prime Video later on in the summer. Stallone will portray the role of Joe Smith, sometimes known as Samaritan, a superhero who vanished during a monumental conflict twenty years ago. Sam, the teenage neighbour of Joe who finds out about the hidden alter identity that Joe has been trying to leave behind, is played by Javon Walton, who is best known for his appearances in Euphoria and the third season of The Umbrella Academy.
In the three freshly released stills, Joe can be seen travelling along a street with Sam, in the midst of a battle that he appears to be winning, and going head-to-head with Cyrus, who is portrayed by Pilou Asbaek from Game of Thrones. Moisés Arias, Martin Starr, and Dascha Polanco are three of the other actors featured in the film. Julius Avery, who directed the 2014 crime thriller Son of a Gun & the 2018 action-horror Overlord, was in charge of directing Samaritan. The film was scheduled to have a theatrical release in November 2020, but due to the pandemic, the release date was pushed back to December 2020 and June 2021.
This August, it will at long last be available to see on our televisions via Prime Video. Before converting the narrative into a series of graphic novels released by Mythos Comics in 2014, screenwriter Bragi F. Schut authored the script almost a decade ago. The narrative has been referred to as a gloomy and contemporary twist on the superhero genre. The streamer carrying Samaritan is expected to arrive on August 26.
