Resident Evil, the impending live-action series based on the iconic video game series of the same name, has received a new trailer from Netflix. As a zombie epidemic gets underway in 2022, the new series will shift gears to depict humanity’s battle to live on a globe overrun by monsters in 2036. Albert Wesker (Lance Reddick) is a scientist trying to save his two children, Jade (Tamara Smart) and Billie (Julianne Moore) (Siena Agudong). There are flashing red warning lights all around the three, giving the impression that they are in some type of subterranean facility.
Despite his desire to stay behind, Wesker provides his daughters with specific instructions on how to flee. Throughout the footage, the two females can be seen to be frantic, but Wesker quickly persuades them to continue forward without him. We see Billie hobbling when the females exit the room, which indicates they were assaulted by an undead entity. As soon as he has a moment to himself, Wesker dashes to a lab and uses a USB key to purge Umbrella’s entire database. The T-Virus scientist appears to be wary of anybody else discovering the virus’ secrets. Following his work with digital files, Wesker drenches his hands in blood using the body of a zombie dog.
As he flees New Raccoon City, Wesker smears blood all over his head and neck, maybe in an attempt to salvage some of his studies. It will also take us to the future, where Jade (Ella Balinska) is a human survivor hunting for retribution in the new Resident Evil series. The show wants to make Billie’s death a mystery by moving back and forth between the two situations. Aside from bringing legendary creatures to Netflix, as the last teaser showed, Resident Evil will also deliver fast-paced action. This series was developed by Andrew Dabb as the show’s creator and showrunner as well as its executive producer (Supernatural).
Also appearing are Adeline Rudolph, Turlough Convery, Ahad Raza Mir, Paola Nuez, Connor Gossatti, and Ahad Raza Mir. Constantin Film’s Robert Kulzer and Oliver Berben are also executive producers, as are writer Mary Leah Sutton and Robert Kulzer. As a producer, Martin Moszkowicz is involved.
Resident Evil’s plot summary is as follows:
Years later, Jade Wesker is still fighting for her life in a world overrun by the infected and deranged animals who have taken control following the worldwide catastrophe triggered by a lethal virus. Jade is plagued by her background in New Raccoon City, by her father’s sinister links to the Umbrella Corporation, but most of all by what happened to her sister, Billie, amid this utter devastation.
Netflix will debut Resident Evil on July 14th.
