Finn Wolfhard, star of Stranger Things, will direct Billy Bryk’s next film Hell of a Summer: Release Date & Synopsis

Mike Wheeler is the next director to take the helm after the upside-down. Billy Bryk and Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard will co-direct an original horror comedy. Wolfhard and Bryk will appear in the film as well as serve as co-directors. They also co-wrote the script. The story of the film, currently titled Hell of a Summer, has not yet been released. Prior to making his feature film directing debut with Hell of a Summer, Wolfhard co-directed and co-wrote the music video Spendtime Palace: Sonora, which was released in 2012.

Short film Night Shifts, featuring Bryk and written and directed only by Wolfhard in 2020. Wolfhard has already made a name for himself in the entertainment industry. Currently starring in the fourth season of Netflix’s Stranger Things, his most well-known role is that of Mike Wheeler. Wolfhard portrayed Richie Tozier, a young Tozier, in both of Warner Bros.’ adaptations of Stephen King’s It on the big screen. On top of that, Wolfhard will star in Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio for Netflix later this year as the eponymous character. When You Finish Saving the World for A24 and Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Bryk starred with Wolfhard. Bryk’s father, Greg Bryk, is a well-known actor, having acted in various films, notably the Saw series. Also an actor, Dempsey Bryk frequently works with his brother.

Additionally, Fred Hechinger, who was most recently seen in Hulu’s Pam & Tommy, will be appearing in the film. Netflix’s The Pale Blue Eye, Butcher’s Crossing, and Sony and Marvel’s Kraven the Hunter star Dimitri Smerdyakov AKA Chameleon are all planned projects for Hechinger. Hechinger, Bateman, Michael Costigan, Drew Brennan, and Jay Van Hoy will all serve as producers alongside Hechinger. I, Tonya director Craig Gillespie and Ridley Scott’s All the Money in the World were both produced by 30West, which will fund and executive produce the project. It will also include a producer from the Jason Bateman production business, Aggregate Films, and a producer from Parts and Labor. In Ontario, Canada, production is scheduled to begin later this month. Wolfhard made a statement on the project, saying, ” “As a co-director on my first feature picture, I am ecstatic. Working with 30West and Aggregate is a dream come true since I get to collaborate with such a talented cast and crew.”
Hell of a Summer has yet to be given an official release date.
