According to Deadline, Solo actor Alden Ehrenreich will be joining the cast of Marvel’s Ironheart. Phase four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is slated to include the series, which will be available on Disney+. This year’s filming for the project began in Atlanta in June and is slated to wrap up in late October. Her co-star Dominique Thorne is also playing a supporting role. He will portray inventor Riri Williams, whose armour matches even Iron Man’s in terms of sophistication. The six-part sitcom is based on the same-named Marvel superhero. Invincible Iron Man Vol. 2 #7 was the first time Ironheart appeared in a Marvel Comics issue.
When Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man sacrificed himself in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, Riri Williams was needed to fill the void left by his character. The 2019 and 2021 Spider-Man films, which featured Tony Stark’s protégé Peter Parker’s struggle to adapt to a world without his rich playboy master, partially addressed the void left by Iron Man’s death. Riri Williams, on the other hand, is a long cry from the tech genius that Tony Stark was. In the same way that Stark and Parker’s worlds have been shaped by the presence of superheroes, Williams is a genius.
Because of this, Williams or Ironheart will provide a more involved and meta-perspective to the already saturated MCU. What role Ehrenreich will have in the future series is set up in the air. Ehrenreich previously portrayed Han Solo in the Star Wars prequel Solo, which was released in 2015. In addition, he will portray Richard Feynman in Christopher Nolan’s much-anticipated film Oppenheimer. Perhaps Ehrenreich is the most underappreciated actor in Hollywood.
Films by the Coen brothers, Francis Ford Coppola, and Sofia Coppola appear on his impressive portfolio. Chinaka Hodge, who also writes the series, is behind the creation of Ironheart. The show also features Anthony Ramos and Harper Anthony, in addition to Ehrenreich and Thorne. The six-part streaming series, which will be exclusive to Disney+, has yet to be launched.
