Season 2 of Maya Rudolph’s workplace comedy Loot has been ordered by Apple TV+. Having recently broadcast the fifth episode of its 10-episode-season run, this news comes in the middle of the series’ first season. Every Friday, fresh episodes of the show are shown. Audiences and critics have praised the series since its launch, calling it “hilarious and touching.” Collider’s Rebecca Landman described Loot as “a Ted Lasso meets The Office-style comedy filled with numerous levels of odd-couple interactions that most surely do not disappoint.”
Michaela JaĆ© Rodriguez, Joel Kim Booster, Nat Faxon, Ron Funches, and Stephanie Styles join Rudolph on the show’s cast. In the series, Rudolph portrays Molly Novak, a millionaire who loses her spouse of 20 years and descends into a self-destructive spiral. A charitable organisation she runs reaches out to her when she is at her lowest point. She learned about this basis via her encounters with it and her voyage with it “goes on a self-discovery journey The act of helping others may be what she needs to get back in touch with her own feelings.” The anthology series Little America, created by Emmy Award-winning creators Alan Yang and Matt Hubbard and executive produced by them, is the inspiration for Loot. This is Yang’s second collaboration with Apple TV+.
Rudolph’s Animal Pictures brand brings on Natasha Lyonne and Danielle Renfrew Behrens as executive producers. The executive producer of the project is Dave Becky of 3 Arts, in addition to them. With a cast and crew full of very talented individuals like Maya, Alan, Matt, and the rest of the Loot crew, Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+, has developed a series that is full of likeable characters and uplifting moments in each episode.
Fans across the world have fallen in love with this programme, and we can’t wait for the next season. Universal Television, a unit of Universal Studio Group, created Loot exclusively for Apple. The first season of Loot, which premiered on Apple TV+ on Friday, continues to air new episodes weekly. The second season hasn’t been announced, but we’ll keep you updated.
The official summary
Molly Novak (Rudolph), the rich protagonist of ‘Loot,’ lives the life of a movie star, replete with her own private plane, opulent house, an opulent yacht. However, when her spouse of 20 years betrays her, she spirals out of control and ends up as tabloid fodder. Just when she’s about to hit rock bottom, Sofia Salinas (Rodriguez), the no-nonsense head of her charity organisation, approaches her and begs her to quit producing negative headlines. Molly goes on a voyage of self-discovery with the support of her loyal aide Nicholas (Kim Booster), as well as Sofia and her crew, which includes mild-mannered accountant Arthur (Faxon) and her upbeat, pop-culture-loving cousin Howard (Funches). Giving back to others may be what she needs to reclaim her own identity.
