An ominous new teaser from Bloody Disgusting exclusively revealed by Lionsgate teases a horrific beast grabbing hold of a young girl in their forthcoming possession horror Prey for the Devil. With a bright young nun rising to the occasion, the film depicts the Catholic Church’s war against a pandemic of demonic afflictions. The film will finally hit cinemas on October 28th after several postponements.
The demonic possession of a little girl is depicted on a new billboard as a direct result of allowing evil to enter. It wants in.” The film’s slogan is emblazoned across her gaping, void-like mouth as the demon’s grotty hands grip her hair.
As the gruesome scene plays out, the girl begins to display the classic indications of possession, including blackened eyes and skin that has begun to decay. The devil has a rosary wrapped around its hand in an almost mocking fashion, implying that even a broad trust in God would not protect you from the powers of evil in the film. Getting rid of evil and all the strands of hair it leaves behind is quite impossible once it has entered the body. The film, originally titled The Devil’s Light, depicts the ascension of Sister Ann (Jacqueline Byers) in the Catholic Church’s efforts to combat the increasing number of demonic afflictions in the church.
While nuns are forbidden from participating in exorcisms, her powers to battle demons are acknowledged and she is granted permission to execute exorcisms, despite the fact that nuns are forbidden from participating in exorcisms. While working with Father Dante (Christopher Navarro), she must save the soul of an orphaned child who appears to have been infected by the same demon that killed Ann’s mother.
It does not take long for her to come to grips with the fact that her adversary, the devil, wants to possess her as well. Virginia Madsen, Tony Todd’s first Candyman victim, stars with Byers in Prey for the Devil’s cast and crew, which includes The Last Exorcism and 13 Sins director Daniel Stamm and Halloween H20: 20 Years Later writer Robert Zappia. Lisa Palfrey (Sex Education), Nicholas Ralph (All Creatures Great and Small), Colin Salmon (Resident Evil), and the late Ben Cross round out the major cast of this film (Star Trek). In addition to Paul Brooks and Jessica Malanaphy producing, Todd Jones, Earl Richey Jones and Earl Richey Jones executive produce.
Prey for the Devil has had a rocky production history up to this moment.
Black Mirror director James Hawes directed it while it was still The Devil’s Light until it was handed off to a new team in 2020. Multiple postponements have also befallen the film, which was initially scheduled for release in theatres in January 2021 before being pushed back again from its anticipated February 2022 debut. Finally, the film is coming together, and Bloody Disgusting will premiere the trailer exclusively on July 14.
