According to Deadline, a television adaptation of Anthony Ryan’s Raven’s Shadow fantasy novel series is in the works. An unofficial title for the new series is “Queen of Fire,” and it will draw on characters and settings from all three of the author’s fantasy novels, as well as the Raven’s Blade sequel and the Raven’s Shadow short story collections. Lyrna, an enslaved princess who rises to lead an empire, Reva, a young woman born to privilege who was stolen from her loving home and raised to kill “The Woman,” a cruel and brutal soul in the body of a beautiful woman, legendary warrior Vaelin, who possesses a gift known as the Blood Song, and Frentis, who is powerless against The Woman.
Lone Wolf Pictures’ Stephen McDonogh had this to say about the show:
“In Ryan’s brilliant writing, the twists to the action-packed non-stop battles, with heretics battling the monastic orders of religion, legendary personalities, and horrific animals in an amazing war for dominance across a world of empires, will be a treat for spectators. To have any hope of a better future, the people and empires in Queen of Fire must overcome their deep divisions, a narrative told with unflinching bravery.”

“Once they’ve been sucked in by Ryan’s excellent writing, viewers will revel in the twists and turns of the nonstop action that pits heretics against the faith’s monastic orders, legends against a legend, and monster animals against one another across empires. It is a daring narrative of people and civilizations who are polarised, and the need to overcome their differences in order to make a better world possible.”
