So, let’s have a look at the finale of The Boys season 3 to see where we could be going next. Of course, we’re about to enter the realm of MAJOR spoilers. This article is for those who have seen the eighth episode of The Boys season 3, episode 8.
A summary of The Boys seasons 3’s finale, with spoilers!
Soldier Boy and Homelander open the season finale of Boys reeling from the revelation that they are father and son. Supe tracks out his own son Ryan, who has been staying with Mallory at Billy Butcher’s orders, to find out what’s going on. Because of this, Ryan heads off with Homelander’s dad after Butcher rejected him earlier in the season, so he’s vulnerable to any parental devotion. Homelander hasn’t quite recovered from learning who his biological father is. The Seven’s commander learns his secret when Black Noir comes to help in the last battle. After the treachery, he decapitates him and leaves him for dead. They are instructed by Homelander on how to proceed. The Deep has to take down the current Vice Presidential candidate, while A-Train travels to his brother’s house to attempt to mend fences.
They’re on their way to take down the final Payback member Black Noir, unaware that he’s already been defeated. Butcher, fearing for the safety of the crew, quickly removes Hughie from the group. As Hughie is picked up by Starlight and brought back to meet with The Boys, we find that Temp V is indeed lethal. Kimiko, Frenchie, and MM are planning a strategy to deal with Soldier Boy at the Flat Iron headquarters because of the risk he offers. In addition, Queen Maeve, who managed to escape from Vought Tower, is now able to assist them. While Soldier Boy and Butcher plan to utilise the chance to take out Homelander when they return to the tower for the ultimate fight, Maeve isn’t on board with their plan.
Face-to-face with Homelander and Soldier Boy, Homelander proposes to establish a superfamily. As he tries to win over Soldier Boy, he pulls out Ryan, complicating things for Butcher. It doesn’t matter to him; he dismisses him as a coward and refuses to accept him as his son. There will be bloodshed, but Butcher switches sides at the last minute to secure Ryan’s safety. While Maeve takes on Homelander, he has his sights set on Soldier Boy. As Frenchie brews novichok and Hughie takes control of the control room, the rest of The Boys eventually join in the struggle as Maeve locks them in a safe.
Soldier Boy has Starlight, MM, and Kimiko on the ropes, but he’s still the victor. In order to give the others a chance to use novichok Soldier Boy, Hughie turns on all of the lights in the newsroom where they’re battling. But nothing seems to be functioning at the moment. As he begins to glow, Maeve is forced to make the difficult decision of whether to spare Ryan and the others at the expense of Homelander’s life. Soldier Boy follows her out the window, and the two of them fly far over New York City. Don’t worry, Maeve manages to stave off the attack by telling Starlight she and her ex-girlfriend Elena are going into hiding. Cryogenic chambers keep Soldier Boy alive as well.
The rest of the finale is devoted to tying up loose ends and laying the groundwork for the next season. Starlight has officially joined The Boys as the squad prepares to take on a new adversary. After the Deep’s drowning of her rivals, Victoria Neuman has been elevated to the office of Vice President. She’s gotta go, to use Butcher’s phrase. When the doctor informs him he’s only got months left, he’ll be dealing with a lot in season 4. The series ends with Homelander exposing his offspring to the world and his astounding skills. As his passionate supporters cheer him on, Ryan shows off his talents. However, Homelander zeroes down on one protester and shoots him to death with a laser. The crowd erupts with cheers as they take in what’s transpired, indicating that the crazy Supe can do just about anything.
Is the genre of Black Noir dead?
Because of concepts like multiverses and different histories, is anyone ever truly dead in the superhero genre? As far as the Boys are concerned, Black Noir’s entrails coming out of the floor is a very strong indication that the character is dead. In the season 3 conclusion, Black Noir comes to Vought Tower and tells Homelander that they must execute Soldier Boy after some cartoon-enabled introspection. “So you were a member of his team, and you were familiar with him. Describe him.” The assassin is asked by the homelander. Prior to Homelander’s revelation that Soldier Boy is his father, Black Noir jotted down “Bad” on a piece of paper. “However, after tearing apart the company’s records and verifying them, I believe him. My entire life, they lied to me. Surprise. What was the most important thing I was denied as a child? “He scoffs, then tells Black Noir that he’s not a fan of the thought of bursting his genitals. “What did you know about my father’s whereabouts? How long have you been alive?”
In response to Black Noir admitting that he knew Soldier Boy is Homelander’s father, Homelander plunges his hand into Black Noir’s abdomen and extracts numerous of his internal organs. Yikes… Laser eyes burnt Madelyn Stillwell’s skull, but we’re not sure which is worse: being gutted or having your head cremated.
How did Maeve manage to get through the ordeal? What’s become of her?
We’re going, to be honest with you: We don’t know how Maeve escaped the explosion from Soldier Boy. Kimiko was able to escape a confrontation with the Captain America imposter earlier in the season, so it’s completely possible that Maeve, another Supe, may be able to do the same. If Maeve and Kimiko both lost their superhuman skills after being exposed to Soldier Boy’s radioactive energy, how might they survive the fall from the top of the Vought Tower? The fact that Maeve has been a Supe from birth, whereas Kimiko received the injection as an adult, might explain the discrepancy, according to our more liberal interpretations. So she may have been somewhat more strong than Kimiko, or her powers could have been zapped more slowly for the same reason.
Maeve tells Annie at the end of episode 8 that she wants to spend a quiet life as a “powerless schmuck” now that the rest of the world thinks she’s dead. When Annie asks where she’ll be going, she responds, “Somewhere Homelander won’t find me.” Annie is impressed by her response. If Elena has any say in it, she would choose a farm. Annie “saved” Maeve when they first met as Starlight, Maeve acknowledges before saying goodbye and leaving the room. “Actually, you don’t need me anymore. Even though I could leap, you’ve got fucking wings.”
Soldier Boy’s fate is unknown. Soldier Boy, are you dead?
With just seconds to spare, Maeve managed to rescue the day by throwing the Soldier Boy through the window of Vought Towers. Mallory is able to locate the nuclear Supe before he has a chance to fight back, perhaps because of Frenchie’s novichok neutralizer. This is the last we see of Jensen Ackles’ villain. In the meanwhile, we don’t expect Soldier Boy to remain out of the way for very long. In the absence of an official announcement, we’re betting that Homelander’s father-in-law will cause more havoc in the future. Since Stormfront was brought back in season 3 of The Boys, the show has had a habit of bringing back antagonists. But we bet Soldier Boy isn’t going to be tamed that easy.
Is Billy Butcher dead?
Diabolical is a synonym for evil. Season 3 concluded with the revelation that Billy Butcher is dying. Because of his constant usage (and misuse) of Temp V, which Starlight described as a “death sentence” in the previous episode, the foul-mouthed Brit has finally met his match. As of now, Butcher has just a year or so to live, according to the physicians. Because of this, he’ll have to move quickly to get revenge on Neuman and Homelander, which is probably why he returned to the group at the episode’s conclusion. Butcher is aware of the fact that time is running out. A death scene is almost certain in season 4, given the current pace of events.
How did Starlight end up? Is she able to fly at this point?
While watching from Vought International’s surveillance room during the season 3 finale’s massive fight action, Soldier Boy sets his eyes on Annie, which panics Hughie. Sipping some V and trying to save her is on his mind, but for some reason, he doesn’t. He must be recalling their dispute about his pompous desire to save her constantly. Annie/Starlight and her friends, including Soldier Boy, are all in a room with all the lights on, allowing Starlight to absorb their energy. She levitates as a result of the boost, indicating that she can now fly if there is energy around that she can channel. Rad. Annie throws away her Starlight outfit at the end of episode 8 because she claims it “never gave her any power.” Then she adds: “And Vought sure as crap didn’t.” In other words, “It’s always been just me.” That’s when Mother’s Milk gives her a position on the boys’ squad as a result. Despite Annie’s protests, Frenchie, Kimiko and Hughie vote her in, proclaiming that the group would henceforth operate as a democracy from this point forward. Billy, put that in your back pocket!
Are you aware of what’s going on with Ryan?
Ryan is a hapless victim! Son of Homelander has had a tough time with it. After mistakenly killing his mother, Butcher rejected him out of spite, thinking that he was keeping him safe. Is it any wonder, therefore, that Homelander attracts him when he shows him some affection? In the conclusion, he joins his true father’s squad and is even made public. While it’s not yet apparent what Butcher’s strategy is, he is the only one who can save Ryan at this point in time.
Whose strategy is Homelander pursuing?
At this time, we have no idea what Homelander has in mind for the young Ryan. But at the conclusion of the season, he will know that he still has a significant impact. Along with becoming the head of Vought, his influence has grown thanks to an ally who is on his way to the White House. For everyone connected in season 3, the ramifications of whichever insane route he takes next will be enormous.
Is Victoria Neuman a viable candidate for Vice President?
In the end, The Boys had one more trick up their sleeve. Robert Singer chose Victoria Neuman to be his running partner, which means she will be the next U.S. Vice President. I think that’s pretty self-explanatory, right? On Homelander’s instructions, Lamar Bishop, Neuman’s competitor for Vice President, was killed by the Deep. There has been no mention of the opposition challengers or incumbent president. The Homelander/Neuman arrangement gives Homelander direct access to the White House in one fell sweep. The passing of power is an intriguing wrinkle as well. Neuman would take Singer’s place as president of the latter dies, which appears to be the case. Because of her head-exploding skills, it’s possible that she’ll soon be seated in the Oval Office without a huge deal of trouble. There are rumours that she’s being groomed as the show’s ultimate baddie. Certainly, it appears to be that way.
Is there a post-credits scene in season 3 of The Boys?
You could expect a meta post-credits sequence given how often The Boys pokes fun at superhero conventions in its jokes and parody segments. The season 3 conclusion of The Boys does not include a post-credits sequence, which is a shame. That’s all there is to it as the closing credits begin to roll.
Can we expect another season of Boys?
Season 3 of The Boys isn’t the last season of the show. However, we don’t yet have a release date or even a release window for the fourth season, which has been formally commissioned by Amazon. Eric Kripke, the show’s creator and showrunner, remarked at the time, “We’re happy to continue Butcher and the Boys’ war against Homelander and the Seven, as well as comment on the bizarre world we’re living in.”
