Marvel’s new series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’s countdown clock has begun. Amie Doherty, the composer for the Disney+ series starring Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters / She-Hulk, has been confirmed by Film Music Reporter. Doherty’s music has been included in films such as Spirit Untamed, Amazon’s Undone, Jurassic World Battle at Big Rock (2019), DreamWorks’ Marooned (2019), Sarah Jessica Parker’s Here and Now (2018), and the Emmy-nominated documentary Light in the Water (2018), to name just a handful. At Tribeca Film Festival, she provided music for Ross Kauffman’s documentary, Of Medicine and Miracles.
Thor: Love and Thunder, the studio’s most recent release, comprises classic songs from the 1980s, while Ms Marvel boasts a diverse soundtrack that includes both classic and contemporary South Asian music. Developed by Jessica Gao, She-Hulk focuses on 30-year-old attorney Jennifer Walters as she navigates her confusing single life as a gigantic green superhero. On the heels of a previous interview with Empire, Maslany said that She-Hulk is “the opposite of a typical superhero story.” Jennifer and She-tense Hulk’s relationship is a result of Jennifer’s refusal to accept what has transpired.
Jennifer Walters, Bruce Banner’s cousin, gains her superpowers via blood transfusion in the comics. Similarly, the trailer for Marvel’s She-Hulk shows Jennifer navigating a job as an attorney in a largely male-dominated field, but the programme is also the first genuine courtroom drama in the MCU’s canon. Maslany took various musical cues from a variety of sources as he prepared for the role: “Sophie, this great trans artist who tragically passed away last year, is always on my mind. “The combination of organic and electrical, industrial-type sounds that seemed tied to She-Hulk is what I adore about Sophie’s music.”
With Maslany, the She-Hulk cast includes Ginger Gonzaga as Walters’ closest friend, Nikki, and RenĂ©e Elise Goldsberry as Amelia, the adversary. Professor Hulk is played by Mark Ruffalo, Emil Blonsky aka the Abomination by Tim Roth, and Wong is played by Benedict Wong. Anais Almonte, Josh Segarra, and Jon Bass also appear in the film, but their roles are not yet known. Kevin Feige produced and directed the programme, which was directed by Kat Coiro and Anu Valia.
She-Hulk will be available on Disney+ on August 17.
