4K UHD Collectors Edition of Oliver Stone’s Oscar-winning epic “Platoon” is now available

On September 13, Shout! The factory will release Platoon on 4K UHD and Blu-ray, making it one of the most talked-about war pictures of all time. To order Oliver Stone’s film on the harsh reality encountered by many soldiers who fought in the Vietnam War, click here. Customers who purchase the two-disc collection will also receive a unique poster from Shout! The factory has yet to be announced. Customers will be pleased with the poster that comes with the final result, which is known for incorporating stunning artwork into all of its restoration projects.

Platoon, a 1986 film based on Stone’s own experiences in the military, was one of those pictures that you couldn’t stop watching. A battalion of troops stationed near the Cambodian border is the focus of the two-hour epic, which shows the atrocities and tragedies of the Vietnam War. The tale revolves around Chris Taylor (Charlie Sheen), a new recruit to the troop, and the moral dilemmas that each member of the unit faces on a daily basis. Aside from the horrors and depravity of war, it is also an examination of the human condition. Additionally, the cast included Tom Berenger, Willem Dafoe, Forest Whitaker; Johnny Depp; Kevin Dillon; John C. McGinley; and Keith David in addition to Sheen’s performance.

After winning the Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Sound Mixing awards, as well as nominations for Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Dafoe and Berenger) and Best Cinematography categories at the 59th Academy Awards, the film was widely acclaimed by spectators and critics alike. First, of a trilogy on Stone’s experiences in the Vietnam War, Platoon served as the starting point for Born on the Fourth of July and Heaven & Earth, respectively. Stone won his second Academy Award for Best Director for Midnight Express, which he had already won for his role as a writer on the film.

Inspiring future filmmakers to build well-executed plots with a large cast of fully developed characters and a lot of twists and turns is impossible to overstate. At this point, Shout! The factory has not revealed any additional features for the film’s 4K UHD release. You can pre-order Platoon on their website today and be the first in your social circle to get your hands on the newly restored piece of cinematic art. Take a look at the box art below the break:
