Writer Brian Bendis provided an update on his Legion of Super-Heroes adult animated version, hinting that he has been working with HBO Max to approve the pilot screenplay. Bendis said that he had handed the episode’s third draught to the HBO Max producers through his own Instagram account, where he posted a photo of the pilot screenplay. It was announced in December that Bendis was working on an animated Legion of Super-Heroes for HBO Max. Initially, the writer told fans that the next series will take on famous storylines from renowned comics, however, there is little information available regarding the show’s premise at this moment although Bendis had told us that the series was in its early phases of development, we’ve been eager to find if HBO Max would approve such a big project.
It appears like Bendis has been working hard to make the programme a reality, according to his latest post. Even if you don’t see it, the Legion of Super-Heroes pilot cover shows that Bendis delivered the episode’s second draught on April 22. Bendis was forced to produce the third script this week, on July 5, because HBO Max was still unable to commit to a series order based on that version. It’s evident from Bendis’ tweet that he hopes the third draught of the pilot will finally persuade HBO Max to allow him to develop his Legion of Super-Heroes adult animated programme.
Our lives could use more Legion, so maybe the current rewrites are enough. The Legion of Super-Heroes, a DC superhero team from the 1930s and 1940s, was first published in Adventure Comics #247 by Otto Binder and Al Plastino in 1958. The Legion of Super-Heroes is the logical continuation of the Justice League in comic books, containing a diverse cast of characters descended from the metahumans of the current day.
The Legion of Doom defends its own part of history, although the Justice League regularly encounters the Legion in their time-travelling escapades. Some myths even claim that the Legion trained Superman in his childhood before sending him back in time to preserve Earth. In November of this year, Brian Michael Bendis and Ryan Sook introduced a new Legion of Super-Heroes comic book series to rave reviews. This is why Bendis’ involvement in the next adult animated series has fans so enthused. Bendi’s Legion of Super-Heroes adult animation series has no release date.
